Friends, I fear these Game Day posts may drive me mad.
As you know, my FORMER therapist told me that my actions ultimately will not have an impact on the performance of my favourite hockey team. And yet both times I posted song lyrics in the Game Day article, the Ottawa Senators LOST in horrifying fashion.
How do you explain that, Doc? Coincidence? Give me a friggin’ break.
The Ottawa Senators look to bounce back in Boston on Thursday night and I try not to ruin it for them.
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before but tonight’s game is another big one for the Sens. Wee bit of a hiccup the other night in New York but they still enter this game in the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. And still just a point back of the Tampa Bay Lightning for third in the Atlantic.
At the same time, there are four teams within two points of Ottawa for that last Wild Card spot and that includes what should be an angry Boston Bruins team. Not only did Ottawa beat them in dramatic fashion on Saturday but they also just got blown out by the Devils last night.
Both teams will call it a “must-win” but because of the rules of the sport, only one team can actually win the game. It’s a biggie.
No Game Day skate but there will be some lineup shuffling. Josh Norris is out for the next few games with what the team is calling an upper body injury. The good news is it sounds like David Perron is ready to return. Jake Sanderson and Nick Jensen both missed practice yesterday but are expected to play.
Lineup should look something like this…
Cousins-Stützle-Batherson
Tkachuk-Pinto-Giroux
Greig-Ostapchuk-Perron
Highmore-Gaudette-Amadio
Chabot-Jensen
Sanderson-Zub
Kleven-Matinpalo
No word on a starting goalie yet.
Puck drop is scheduled for 7:08 PM in Boston. Game is on TSN5, TSN1200 and streaming sites all across the interwebs.
Wondering how these teams match-up? Well just watch the game from the weekend because the table is day-to-day with what is very likely a curse of some kind.
