Game Day- Senators Travel to Edmonton to Face Oilers

The Ottawa Senators continue their cross-Canada tour with a stop in Edmonton to take on the Oilers.

In a strange bit of scheduling, the Senators are in the midst of five straight games against Canadian teams. After Saturday’s game in Calgary, they will have played every Canadian team with the exception of the Montreal Canadiens.

Tuesday night in Vancouver obviously wasn’t the Senators’ best effort of the season but coming away with a point was a pretty good outcome. Banking “loser” points is important but the Senators have posted a less than impressive 0-1-2 record in their last three games.

Tonight represents a good chance to come away with a couple points and get back on track.

This was supposed to be the year the Edmonton Oilers finally started to turn the corner but the first 16 games haven’t gone exactly as planned. It hasn’t been a complete disaster but they currently sit in a tie for last in the Western Conference with 13 points and a -14 goal differential. Defence has been an issue for the Oilers again this season, giving up 3.31 goals against per game, which has them ranked 26th in the league.

Here’s how Paul MacLean has his team lined up at the morning skate

Craig Anderson gets the start in the Ottawa goal.  Another late start as puck drop is scheduled for 9:30 PM. The game is available on TSN5 and RDS2.
