Well that sucked.
After impressive wins over the Bruins and Capitals, the Ottawa Senators dropped the ball on New Year’s Eve.
Oh damn.
It’s not that they played bad necessarily but that they barely played at all. Two good minutes, three really bad minutes and about 55 minutes of meh. In a game that some well-respected, funny and handsome experts were calling “THE BIGGEST GAME OF THE YEAR”, the Senators mostly stunk.
The good news (I hope?!) is they are right back at in what feels like another must-win game against the surprisingly competent Buffalo Sabres.
No morning skate for the Senators but it sounds like the plan is to roll with the same lineup as last night in Detroit. Hopefully that’s where the similarities to last night end for Ottawa.
DJ Smith will meet with the media at 4:30 PM so we’ll find out the lineup then. A best guess for now.
Tkachuk-Stützle-Giroux
DeBrincat-Pinto-Batherson
Kelly-Gambrell-Lucchini
Brassard-Kastelic-Watson
Chabot-Zub
Sanderson-Hamonic
Holden-Bernard-Docker
Anton Forsberg gets the start for the home side.
Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:00 PM. The game is available on TSN5, TSN1200 and if you are so inclined, on streaming sites all across Al Gore’s information superhighway.
Or you could get a good start on the “spend more time with loved ones” resolution and head down to the Canadian Tire Centre to see our dear Sens in real life.
It’s table time.
