Game Day – Senators Look to Bounce Back vs. Kings

Good news, everyone.

I pulled a few strings down at league HQ and had Saturday night’s debacle stricken from the record. It will still count in the standings and for the purposes of NHL record keeping but what they said is that it will no longer exist in our collective and clearly fragile psyche.

Well that’s a relief! Onward and upward!

The Ottawa Senators look to bounce back when they host the Los Angeles Kings on whatever the heck day it is.

It goes without saying but we’re gonna learn a lot about this year’s version of the Sens today. With so much focus and attention on the idea of a better start and an off-season and Training Camp built around that very thing, how they bounce back is crucial. The no non-sense Head Coach, the veteran players added throughout the lineup and the legitimate starting goalie – all of that was supposed to help this team avoid those lengthy season-derailing slumps.

That theory will be tested a big way today. The Los Angeles Kings are one of the toughest teams in the Western Conference and if the Senators turn in another effort like Saturday, they’ll get run out of the rink.

No morning skate for the Senators today because of the early start. That means we’ll need to look to yesterday’s practice for clues in how the Sens might line up. Unfortunately, Ridly Greig missed practice yesterday with what the team is calling an upper body injury so we’ll need to wait until game time to figure out his status.

Based on the combinations, it seems like they’ll go with a similar look as Saturday night in Montreal except ideally, less horrendous.

A best guess at the lineup for now.

Tkachuk-Stützle-Giroux
Gregor-Norris-Batherson
Perron-Pinto-Amadio
Cousins-Gaudette-MacEwen

Sanderson-Zub
Chabot-Jensen
Kleven-Hamonic

Ullmark did not practice yesterday and afterwards, Travis Green called it a maintenance day. But this morning, the Senators announced that they have recalled Mads Sogaard from Belleville. Eeep.

Puck drop is scheduled for just after 1:00 PM at The Tire. And barring some kind of last minute Thanksgiving Miracle, we ain’t getting those damn Sens gravy boats. The game is available on TSN5, TSN1200 and all across the information super highway.

A closer look at the match-up via the HEAD2HEAD table, which is on a short leash this season. Expecting a huge bounce back performance from this table today.
