The Ottawa Senators and the Tampa Bay Lightning actually have a lot in common.
See, they both joined the National Hockey League through the same round of expansion. You remember that day, don’t you?
But the similarities don’t stop there. Uhh they both employed Guy Boucher as a Head Coach. And umm, they both continue to play in the NHL to this very day.
Okay, so that’s about it for similarities.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are the class of the Eastern Conference. Their roster is stacked with talent and they come into this season with sky-high expectations. Meanwhile the Ottawa Senators came into this year as a consensus pick to finish 31st overall.
They’ll go head to head later tonight.
For those that missed updates from yesterday’s practice because you were all wrapped in the latest Senz Scandal, there was some fairly dramatic shuffling to the line up. Nowhere near as dramatic as Sens Twitter cracking the case on a handful of random burner accounts but dramatic just the same.
We’ll see if this sticks at the Game Day skate and throughout the game but here’s how Guy Boucher had his team lined up yesterday. Obviously one of those forwards or defence will have to take a seat.
Oh and that second line is going to raise hell.
