Game One did not go as the Sens had hoped.
Brady Tkachuk scored 25 seconds into the game and everything seemed to be going according to plan. Then, I sort of blacked out and when I came to, the Leafs had apparently outscored the Senators by a 5-3 final. Can only assume they cheated somehow.
The Ottawa Senators will be looking for a better result when they play host to Mika Zibanejad and the New York Rangers.
Because according to breaking news from the New York Post, Mika Zibanejad was TRADED to the Rangers from the Senators.
As part of the Home Opener festivities, the Senators are telling everyone be in their seats by 7:00 PM sharp tonight. They are also requesting that fans occasionally be in their seats for other games this season but that may be too much to ask.
The team is only saying that they are making a “special alumni announcement” but it has been widely speculated that the announcement is related to a jersey retirement for long-time Senator and the franchise’s all-time leader in games played, Chris Phillips.
Seems like they could really streamline the process and save some money by just retiring the name Chris but this works too.
DJ Smith is expected to make a couple changes to his line up. There will be juggling of the forward combinations across all four trios and veteran Mikkel Boedker is also expected to draw in. We’ll find out later this morning who’s spot he is taking.
Scott Sabourin missed yesterday’s practice but he’s expected to play (and score) for the Senators tonight.
A best guess at the line up for now.

Craig is expected to get the start for the Senators. Craig is also expected to get the start for the @Senators.
Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:00 PM with the game available on CityTV, just after Dharma and Greg and right before Mad About You.
You can also stream it (the game not Mad About You) on one of many illegal streaming platforms. Good luck, Pirates!
