In the depths of that recent goal scoring slump, there were times where it felt like the Ottawa Senators might never score again.
And now thanks to two games and seven goals against Carey Price and Tuukka Rask, it feels like the offence is finally starting to heat up a little bit.
The Senators will look to keep things rolling when they take on the Carolina Hurricanes in front of what should be a sell-out Saturday night crowd.
While they haven’t received a ton of recognition over the last couple seasons, there have been signs that this Carolina team is on the cusp of being pretty competitive. Goaltending has held them back a little bit in recent years but thanks to suddenly competent Cam Ward, the Hurricanes are starting to make some noise in the Eastern Conference.
Their 8-7-4 record has them sitting outside of a playoff spot but they’ve been playing some good hockey as of late. They lost a one goal game to Montreal the other night but before that they had reeled off five straight victories over Washington, San Jose, Montreal, Winnipeg, Toronto.
No changes expected to the line up ahead of this one. Max McCormick was returned to Binghamton yesterday. Just an optional morning skate for the Sens but here’s a best guess at how Boucher will line them up for this one.
