What. A. Weekend.
As some of you may have been able to tell by my various incoherent tweets over the last few days, I went down to Toronto for the Grey Cup this weekend. Safe to say it’s a few days I won’t soon forget.
From obnoxiously celebrating a Dion Phaneuf goal in the ACC, to watching the Ottawa RedBlacks finally bring the Grey Cup back to the Nation’s Capital, to the train ride home with the Grey Cup MVP himself Henry Burris- it was an incredible few days. Special thanks to the cleaning lady at the Hilton for sneaking me into the post-game victory party and sorry about almost dropping the Grey Cup.
And also, thanks to all of you for keeping things going around here in my absence. Turns out the Ottawa Senators did just fine without me.
On Saturday, Kyle Turris scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period to give the Sens a dramatic 2-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. And then on Sunday, led by another incredible performance by Craig Anderson, the Senators blanked the league’s top offence in the New York Rangers.
Not a bad weekend back to back.
They’ll look to keep things rolling tonight against the Buffalo Sabres.
Unlike Sunday night’s opponent, the Sabres have been struggling to score goals this season. They currently sit last in the league with just 1.8 goals per game. Their offence could get a little boost tonight though as it sounds like Jack Eichel may make his season debut. He’s been out with a high-ankle sprain since early October.
On Ottawa’s side of things, they’ll again be looking for ways to find a little more offence. They continue to win hockey games thanks to remarkable goaltending and solid defensive play but they aren’t leaving themselves a lot of room for error.
No changes expected to the Ottawa line up.

Craig Anderson gets the start in the Ottawa goal. Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:30 PM
-The Grey Cup Champion Ottawa RedBlacks will keep the party going this afternoon as they host their victory parade beginning at 12:00 PM. It’s been an awfully long time since this city had a parade that didn’t end with Santa Clause so if you’re in the area and can make it out- do it! The Grey Cup victory parade will depart from Bank Street and Pretoria Avenue at 12 p.m. The parade will travel along Bank Street and end at Lansdowne in the Aberdeen Pavilion, where a rally will be held at approximately 12:30 p.m.
