Okay, now the Ottawa Senators are officially relegated to role of spoiler.
With a disappointing loss to the Montreal Canadiens on a Saturday, the Sens have officially been eliminated from playoff contention.
That means that unless one of the four playoff-bound teams does the right thing and graciously hands over their spot to the clearly superior Ottawa Senators, then there will be no playoff hockey in Ottawa this season.
It seems unlikely. Not impossible but unlikely.
So with just five games left in the regular season, the focus for the Senators is on ending the season on a high note and inflicting as much pain, humiliation and embarrassment on other teams teams as possible. Okay- the pain, humiliation and embarrassment part is more my focus but you get the idea.
The Ottawa Senators host the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night.
Game day skate is scheduled for 10:30 AM today so we’ll find out if there are any lineup changes planned.
Mike Amadio stepped in for Alex Formenton on Saturday night but we’ll see if that’s the case again tonight. Also, Jacob Bernard-Docker is still patiently waiting for his second game in the National Hockey League. I got a good feeling about this one JBD fans. (Sorry!)
Here’s how they are lined up at the morning skate.
Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson
Stützle-White-Dadonov
Dzingel-Tierney-Brown
Formenton-Pinto-Paul
Chabot-Zaitsev
Brannstrom-Zub
Mete-J. Brown
Filip Gustavsson is the expected starter.
Puck drop is scheduled for a sensible 7:08 PM. The game is mercifully available across the TSN network including on TSN3, TSN5 and RDS2. TSN1200 will be providing an audio-only broadcast of the proceedings while brave internet pirates will provide us with a reasonably-priced live feed filmed on potato.
And now, the table that critics are calling “a colossal time-wasting monster”.
