After an impressive win over the St. Louis Blues, the Ottawa Senators return home to take on one of the league’s hottest teams.
Jaromir Jagr and the Florida Panthers roll into town tonight in the midst of a league-high ten game win streak.
I’ll admit it has taken me awhile to completely accept that the Florida Panthers are good now. This recent ten game winning streak has been the tipping point. They have such a great mix of reliable veterans and young stars and they’ve quickly become one of the most consistent teams in the Eastern Conference. In a league where teams are so even, it’s so rare to get on a run like this one the Panthers have been on the last little while.
They now sit three points clear at the top of the Atlantic Division. Which is insane when you consider the cushion the Montreal Canadiens had at one point. The Panthers are a damn good team and will be a huge test for the Senators.
The good news is Ottawa is coming off one of their most impressive wins of the season and should be feeling pretty good as they return home to the Canadian Tire Centre. Dave Cameron has his team on the ice for the morning skate and has made one interesting change to his combinations from yesterday. Shane Prince in and Alex Chiasson out. Cowen and Wideman will also watch this one from the press box.
The Sens get a couple injured bodies back tonight as both Milan Michalek and Cody Ceci are expected to play. Here’s how Coach Cameron has them lined up at the morning skate.
