Well this should be interesting.
A night after another dreadful road loss, this time at the hands of the 30th place New Jersey Devils, the Ottawa Senators return home. The defending Stanley Cup Champions are waiting for them.
Sounds like a recipe for a 10 goal loss. Or a win. Who the hell knows anymore.
Senators and Capitals tonight at the CTC.
In this section of the game day post, I usually say something mean about the other team. If it was the Leafs, I might say something about how they’ve never won a playoff series on an HD television. If it was the Habs, I might make a “flip a cop car” reference.
But tonight’s opposition just won the Stanley Cup like six months ago. They deserve respect, damn it. Their years and years of underachieving and constant playoff disappointments are long forgotten. Forgotten like a good portion of the summer was for most of the players on the team following their post-Cup bender.
No game day skate today obviously but the Senators did make one roster move, recalling goaltender Marcus Hogberg from Belleville of the American Hockey League. Craig Anderson finished the game on the bench last night but won’t be available for this one. Two other changes as Tom Pyatt and Max Lajoie come out in favour of Nick Paul and Justin Falk.
Line combinations will remain a bit of a mystery until puck drop at which point they will become a full blown fucking riddle.
A best guess for now.

Mike McKenna gets the start in goal for Ottawa. Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:00 PM.
The game is available on CityTV (just after Dharma & Greg wraps up), Sportsnet 360 (which you don’t have and should never buy) and TVA (which doesn’t exist). Streaming might be your best bet.
