Game Day- Senators Host Capitals in a Must-win

Five more games.

That’s all that remains for the Ottawa Senators in what has been a wild 2014/2015 season.  What started out as a disastrous year has transformed into one of the most entertaining runs in the history of the franchise.

Five more games.  Although if the Senators have their way, there will be many more games than that.

Ottawa’s magical run for a playoff spot enters yet another crucial weekend.  Another series of must-win games.  Another agonizing night of scoreboard watching.  So basically status quo for the Senators and their fans.

We all know the math at this point and just like it has been since February, the odds aren’t on Ottawa’s side. But if I had told you a month ago that we’d be watching meaningful games in April, you certainly would have taken it.

The biggest game of the night is obviously the one in Ottawa but we’ll all be keeping a close eye on the Leafs/Bruins and Wings/Wild. And actually, we may as well cheer for Columbus against Pittsburgh too, just in case. But again, the results of those games are secondary to the one at the Canadian Tire Centre.  If the Senators keep winning hockey games, you have to hope one of those other teams stumbles.

No changes expected to the Ottawa line up. Same 12 forwards and 6 defenceman that edged Tampa Bay the other night.  Colin Greening is the healthy scratch up front. Jared Cowen is the odd man out on the blueline.  Here’s how Cameron has his team lined up at the morning skate.

MacArthur-Turris-Stone
Condra-Pageau-Lazar
Ylonen-White-Muckalt
Smith-Zibanejad-Ryan
Hoffman-Legwand-Chiasson

Methot-Karlsson
Wiercioch-Ceci
Borowiecki-Gryba

Andrew Hammond makes another start in the Ottawa goal. Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:00 PM.

Just win.

Go. Sens. Go.
