The thing about meaningful hockey is it’s really frigging stressful.
It’s 8:00 AM and my mind is already locked in on the game tonight. There are about a million things I need to do between now and puck drop and yet all I can think about is Go Sens Go. People are gonna ask me questions and I might give an answer but in my head, it’s Go Sens Go. I’ll look and sound like a functioning human being but really, it’s just Go Sens Go. All day long, it’s Go Sens Go.
The Ottawa Senators play another big ol’ game of ice hockey on Thursday night as they return home to host the Boston Bruins.
With 18 games left in the season, the Sens are in a precarious position in the Eastern Conference.
Sure, this recent four-game winning streak has put them in a slightly more favourable situation but there is still all sorts of trouble in the rearview mirror. And you know what they say about things in the rearview mirror.
Tonight’s opponent for example, is just five points back. And there are two others lurking back there too. With a single point last night, those toilet seat lookin’ yahoos are just four points back. Honestly, just looking at the standings right now stresses me out. I don’t wanna talk or think about it and it’s all I wanna talk about or think about. I’m fine.
Just gotta keep finding ways to bank points.
The Senators had a full day off yesterday and will be back on the ice for a morning skate at 10:30 AM this morning. Really not expecting any shuffling ahead of this one. We’ll confirm this in a little bit…
