Less than 24 hours after one of their ugliest performances of the season, the Ottawa Senators are right back at it against a powerhouse from the Western Conference.
For the second time in four days, the Senators will take on a Blues team considered to be one of the elite teams in the West and in the entire NHL. And if the last few games between these two teams are any indication, it should be another chippy game in St. Louis tonight.
I’m not really sure where it comes from but the St. Louis Blues and the Ottawa Senators do not like each other one bit.
They met twice last season and both games seemed to have a bit of an edge to them. And then on Thursday night, it was more of the same. Plenty of hitting, stick work and post-whistle scrums. Seeing each other for the second time in less than a week should only add to that tension. The intensity is probably a good thing for the Senators as they try to find a little extra energy in a tough back to back situation. Goes without saying but a strong start tonight is crucial for the Sens.
Back to back games so just an optional skate for the Senators this morning. We know Robin Lehner gets the start in goal but other than that, the lineup will remain a bit of a mystery until puck drop. MacLean suggested that a couple guys are banged up and a couple other guys are being considered for healthy scratch status. Erik Condra, Colin Greening and Chris Phillips all missed last night’s game in Detroit.
I’d take a guess at the line combination but I’m sort of thinking there could be changes to all the forward combinations for this one.
Puck drop is scheduled for just after 8:00 PM with the game available on TSN5 and RDS.
