There is no particular formula for playing well on the road.
It’s usually a combination of things. Making the most of your chances. Good special teams. Being “ready” to play early in the game. All those things matter obviously but what really makes the difference is good goaltending. It can help you weather an early storm in those instances where the legs might be there right away and it can carry you through those inevitable swings in momentum over the course of the sixty minutes.
Tuesday in Seattle was a prime example. The Senators were not sharp early in that game but thankfully, Linus Ullmark was. He made a handful of great stops in the first period and gave the team a chance to get settled. Once the Senators opened the scoring, they sort of took control of the game. And that’s how you win on the road.
The Ottawa Senators will look to build on that effort as they head to Calgary to take on the Flames.
Game Day skate is scheduled for 11:30 AM mountain time, if that’s even a real thing. Later than usual, is all I know for sure. But I think it’s probably pretty safe to assume that Travis Green will roll out the same look as the other night in Seattle. If it ain’t broke, as the ol’ saying goes.

Puck drop is scheduled for 9:08 PM in Calgary so a wee pre-game snooze is probably still a good idea. The game is available on TSN5, TSN1200, Sportsnet West and on TSN1200. Streaming options shall reveal themselves in the comment section below.
Wondering how these teams match up and miss the convenience of the HEAD2HEAD table? Well I’m sorry, I can’t help you.
