It doesn’t take long for the ol’ preseason shine to wear off.
There is a certain novelty to the first couple games and beating the Leafs is always nice but it took exactly two tune-ups for me to start to lose interest. And that’s because we know the real thing is just around the corner.
In just two weeks, we’ll be gearing up for the Home Opener against the defending Stanley Cup Champions. Tonight though, the Ottawa Senators are playing a preseason game and the second line includes Kulemin-Gaudette and MacEwen.
This is gonna be a struggle. Sens and Sabres on Thursday night.
The first big round of cuts can’t be far off but at least we’ll get a good look at most of the guys on the bubble heading into Camp. Up front, Tyler Boucher gets an opportunity on what is effectively the team’s top line. On defence, Carter Yakemchuk has another chance to impress on the top defence pairing.
The rest of the lineup is a bit of a mess. And yet, somehow, it’s still better than Buffalo’s.
Like, what is this thing?!
Here’s how Travis Green lined ’em up this morning.
Crookshank-Pinto-Boucher
Kulemin-Gaudette-MacEwen
Gregor-Ostapchuk-Highmore
Reinhard-Jenik-Bourgault
Kleven-Yakemchuk
Roos-Matinpalo
Sebrango-Addison
Starting goalie is an unsolved mystery. Dustin Tokarski was in the starter’s end at the morning skate though.
Puck drops at 7:08 PM. TSN5, TSN1200 and Bort have the coverage.
