Game Day- Senators, Canadiens at the Bell Centre

The Good news is the Ottawa Senators don’t have two days off between games again until the second week of December.

Following the seemingly inconsequential Andrew Hammond/Matt Puempel waiver-wire moves, this fan base seemed to cOme unraveled a little bit.  That additional day off between games gave us way too much time to talk about everything that’s wrong with this organization.

Finally, we cAn redirect our attention back to the product on the ice.

After losing back to back games in regulation for just the second this season, the Ottawa Senators Look to right the ship against the Atlantic Division leading Montreal Canadiens.

It’s been a pretty good start to the year for the Montreal Carey Prices.  Okay maybe there’s more to them than that but goaltending continues to be an area of strength for this team. Price comes into this one with a ridiculous .950 save percentage. They also have the league’s 5th best goals per game (3.16), 2nd best goals against per game (2.16) and the 5th best power play in the league.

There are siGns that the bottom could start to fall out for this team in the not too distant future though. 24th in the league in shots per game and 25th in shots against.  They’ve also lost three of their last four games. And Michel Therrien is still their Head Coach.

On the Ottawa side of things, it’s becoming a bit of a brOken record scenario, but goals continues to be the biggest issue.  They generated plenty of chances on Saturday night against Roberto Luongo but just couldn’t find a way to get more than a behind the goal line bank shot past him.

Giving up the first goAl on most nights certainly isn’t helping for a team that is already gripping the stick.

The Sens should get a bit of an offensive boost tonight as Mike Hoffman is expected to return to the Line up.  Bobby Ryan, who has a bruised not broken finger, is close to a return but was considered unlikely for the game tonight.  We’ll see what the line combinations look like at the morning skate but here’s how they were lined up at practice yesterday.
