Game Day- Senators, Bruins Meet Again in Boston

The Ottawa Senators came away with a huge regulation win on Sunday at the Canadian Tire Centre.

Now they’ll go for the two game sweep as they visit the TD Garden for a rematch with the Boston Bruins.

While the Bruins held a significant edge in play on Sunday night in Ottawa, it was the Senators that came away with the all-important two points. It was a familiar script for the Sens.  Bend but don’t break defence, hot goaltending and timely goal scoring.  Not exactly a sustainable approach obviously but one that has been working for the Senators this season. They’ll be looking for a more complete defensive effort in Boston.

This is another game that’s going to have a significant impact on the standings in the Atlantic Division. You hesitate to use the term “four point game” this early in the season but that’s exactly what these games against the Bruins are.

The two teams come into tonight’s rematch tied with 42 points each although the Bruins have played one less game.  Both teams are holding down Wild Card spots right now but with just five points separate 1st from 6th in the Atlantic, every game is huge.

The Panthers host the Canadiens while the Red Wings are in Winnipeg to take on the Jets.

We’ll have to wait until the morning skate to find out exactly what Coach Cameron has in mind for the line combinations.  Curtis Lazar was on the ice for practice yesterday but is not expected to suit up tonight against the Bruins. Cody Ceci is classified as “week to week” with his injury so he definitely won’t play tonight.  Safe to assume the Senators will roll with the same line combinations as Sunday night but we’ll wait for confirmation from the morning skate.
