Game Day- Anderson Starts vs. Sabres

It can be so hard to pick out the perfect gift for a Sens fan.

New Senators socks? Already has ’em. A jersey with a name on the back? They’ll probably just get traded. A big ol’ winning streak for the local hockey team? Sounds good but what about the tank?!

Give Santa Claus credit though. He really came through this December. He got us all just what we really wanted. What we really needed. And that’s a brand new, perfectly-functioning #SharksTank.

They lost again last night, folks. Three in a row. Just one win in the month of December. 29th in the National Hockey League. Look at it. It’s…beautiful.

We all knew this season was going to be unpleasant at times.

Rebuilds aren’t easy and cheering for a team with rock-bottom expectations can be tough. But owning the first round pick of one of the league’s worst teams has certainly softened the blow.

Anyway, the Ottawa Senators play the Buffalo Sabres tonight at the Canadian Tire Centre.

After a nearly two month absence, Scott Sabourin was planning to make his return to the Sens line-up. Unfortunately he has the flu and won’t be able to play until after the break.

No game day skate scheduled, we’ll have to wait until game time to unwrap tonight’s line up. A best guess for now.

Craig Anderson gets the start in goal.

The game is available on TSN5, RDS2 and rumours has it, Santa Claus will be leaving illegal internet streams in everyone’s stocking this year.

For those that missed it, yesterday comment section legend Hax stopped by with his annual Christmas Poem. It follows previous instalments like “Brady with Stone and White” and “Twas the Night Before Sensmas”. Truly one of my favourite SensChirp traditions.

Here’s “Let it Pageau”….

Oh the power play has been frightful,
Another pick would be delightful.
Some are thinking he ought to go.
Trade Pageau, Trade Pageau, Trade Pageau!

White and Brown aren’t really pressing.
Depth at center might be a blessing.
As long as the salary’s low,
Sign Pageau, Sign Pageau, Sign Pageau!

The debate could rage all night.
How we all love to poke the Bear.
But what if he’s actually right?
And players like Pager are rare!

Some security we’d be buying,
With a reasonable re-signing.
As long as that salary’s low,
Sign Pageau, Sign Pageau, Sigh Pageau!

How many teams are truly shopping?
Are the offers that eye-popping?
If other teams covet him so,
Trade Pageau, Trade Pageau, Trade Pageau!

This song is merely stating,
Both ideas are worth debating.
Oh Dorion get on that phone,
Trade Pageau, Trade Pageau, Trade Pageau!
Sign Pageau, Sign Pageau, Sigh Pageau!
I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know!

(admittedly, the song works better with the Paul Romanuk pronunciation “Puh-Joe”)

Merry Christmas Chirp-heads!
