The Dawn of a New Era that played out against the Arizona Coyotes the other night looked a whole lot like the old era.
In Jacques Martin’s re-debut behind the Sens bench, Ottawa squandered a three-goal lead in what was actually one of their most frustrating losses of the season. For everything they did right in the first 20 minutes of the game, the Senators were a mess the rest of the way.
If there’s a positive spin in there it’s that the second and third period provided Martin with a whole lot of video he could use in the weeks ahead as he preaches things like “attention to detail” and “game management”.
The Ottawa Senators will look to salvage something on this disastrous road trip when they visit the Colorado Avalanche.
Just an optional Game Day skate for the Senators today after a full practice on Wednesday but the expectation is that they’ll go with the same lineup as they did in Arizona.
Something like this…
Tkachuk-Stützle- Batherson
Tarasenko-Norris-Giroux
Kubalik-Greig-Crookshank
Smejkal-Kastelic-Kelly
Sanderson-Zub
Chychrun-Hamonic
Brannstrom-Bernard Docker
No word on a starting goalie just yet.
Puck drop is scheduled for 9:00 PM in Colorado. The game is available on TSN5 and on the radio at, you guessed it, TSN1200. If streaming is more your thing, please turn yourself in to the authorities immediately.
It’s table time.
