Game Day- Preseason Ramps Up vs. Leafs

Okay, now these pretend hockey games start to get real.

While the lineup still contains one fairly glaring omission up front, we’re creeping closer to this year’s Ottawa Senators. After a significant round of cuts over the weekend, the Training Camp roster is starting to look a whole lot like the team that will open the regular season in just ten days.

With just three preseason games remaining, most of the decisions have been made. While there are still a handful of extra players on the roster, especially up front, it’s pretty clear which guys will still be around when the final cuts come later this week.

Tyler Ennis is on a PTO but will almost certainly be signed to a contract in the coming days. Parker Kelly is here but injured. Same with Clark Bishop. Andrew Agozzino, Logan Shaw and Scott Sabourin are all still on the roster but it’s safe to assume they’re ultimately Belleville bound.

DJ Smith has his team on the ice this morning for a Game Day skate and as you might expect, the lineup looks as good as it has this preseason.

Chris Tierney has the night off which means Shane Pinto finally gets a look on that second line with Tim Stützle and Connor Brown.

Here’s how the Senators are expected to line up for this one.

Formenton-Norris-Batherson
Stützle-Pinto-Brown
Sanford-White-Ennis
Paul-Agozzino-Watson

Chabot-Zub
Del Zotto-Holden
Mete-Brown

Matt Murray is expected to start and play the entire sixty minutes. Anton Forsberg will dress as his back-up.

Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:00 PM. The game is available on Sportsnet, which means you may want to mash that mute button early and tune into Dean and Gord on TSN1200.

The HEAD2HEAD table is nursing a minor injury and is expected to return to the Game Day post in 7 to 10 days.
