Game Day- Preseason Begins in Winnipeg

There’s a Sens game today. I said…THERE IS A SENS GAME TODAY!

Sure it’s preseason and yea, most of the actual roster is sitting this game out but it’s a bunch of people skating around in Sens jerseys and after months without hockey, that will do just fine.

The Ottawa Senators open their preseason against the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday night.

The Senators will be looking to build on a big win yesterday at the CTC. They will also be looking to bounce back from a tough loss yesterday at the CTC. Yesterday’s intra-squad game was a good chance to dial up the Training Camp intensity a little bit but they’ll be taking it to another level tonight against the Jets.

Ottawa will play a total of seven preseason games over the next couple weeks which means there isn’t a ton of time for those bubble guys to make an impression on the Coaching Staff. Most of the roster spots are spoken for obviously but there are a couple openings/roles on the team that appear up for grabs. These seven games will go a long way to deciding how this team will look on opening night against the lowly Toronto Maple Leafs.

Tonight figures to be a big one for the likes of Erik Brannstrom, Victor Mete, Josh Brown, Alex Formenton, Shane Pinto, Parker Kelly, Tyler Ennis and Egor Sokolov. While the situation is a little different for each of those guys, their performance in these preseason games will either determine where they land or on the depth chart or whether they make the team at all.

Here is a look at the fortunate humans that have earned a Sunday trip to Winnipeg in late September. Not exactly the A-team heading to Manitoba for this one.

We’ll have to wait until a little later in the day to find out how DJ Smith plans to arrange this particular collection of hockey players.

Puck drop is scheduled for just after 8:00 PM with the game available on TSN3, TSN5 and on the radio at TSN1200. If those options don’t work for you, feel free to tune into the comment section and watch people overreact to preseason performances in real-time.

And now, a preseason edition of the HEAD2HEAD table. Just trying to shake off the rust ahead of the regular season.
