In the second and third period of last night’s game, there may have been the slightest indication the Ottawa Senators might be ready to break out of this dreadful slide.
Consistent offensive zone time. Second and third chances. A somewhat coherent looking power play. All things that have been virtually non-existent during the five game losing streak were suddenly going Ottawa’s way.
They still ended up with a fifth consecutive loss but maybe, just maybe, there was something there for the team to build on. We’ll find out tonight when they host John Tavares and the New York Islanders.
Guy Boucher met with the media this afternoon and provided the details on a couple changes to his line up. Freddy Claesson draws back in and Zack Smith is a game time decision. If Smith plays then they’ll go 12/6 otherwise it’s 11/7 again.
No game day skate in the back to back so a best guess at the line up for now.

Craig Anderson gets the start in the Ottawa goal on back to back nights. A little bit unconventional but Boucher said his number one goalie asked for the net again.
Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:00 PM.
