Game Day- Playoff Push Continues at the CTC

Biggest game of the year? Biggest game of the year.

And honestly at this point in the season, the next game is always going to be the biggest game of the year. The Senators sit five points back of the final Wild Card spot and with a game in hand. If they can take care of business on home ice this weekend, they could set themselves up for a massive showdown against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night.

This playoff run was a long shot a couple weeks ago. When the Senators went to California to kick off their toughest five game road trip of the season, the playoffs were a long shot. But the Senators did the unthinkable, going 4-0-1 on the trip and forcing their way back into the Eastern Conference playoff race.

This was a long shot. Now it’s possible.

Obviously there’s still a ton of work to be done but with that remarkable road trip, the Senators have at least given themselves a chance. At the same time, the Boston Bruins have left the door open just a crack, almost begging someone to take their spot. It’s time for the Senators to kick that door in.

Mike Hoffman was a little banged up in the game in Winnipeg but is one the ice for the morning skate.  Looks like Colin Greening is the odd man out up front as Matt Puempel draws back in.  On defence, Jared Cowen sits again.  Here’s how Dave Cameron has his team lined up at the morning skate.

Andrew Hammond is expected to make another start in the Ottawa goal.  Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:30 PM.  Still tickets left for this one so if you’re looking for something to do on a Friday night, why not head down to the Canadian Tire Centre and give this team the warm welcome home they deserve?

Go. Sens. Go.
