The NHL Trade Deadline has come and gone.
And with 13 games left in their season, the Ottawa Senators don’t have a lot to play for. In the standings, anyway.
The final stretch will be vitally important for a handful of young players still looking to carve out their role on the team for next season. These games are also important for some of the team’s more veteran players either looking to earn a contract for next season or simply to prove they are worthy of their current deal.
So while the Senators may be comfortably nestled at the bottom of the league’s standings again, there is still plenty of reason to tune in down the stretch. And if those reasons above aren’t good enough, the chance to ruin the hopes and dreams of a few Canadian rivals certainly should be.
If Monday night is any indication, the Ottawa Senators have no plans to coast to the finish line. That game against the Jets was one of those top-to-bottom team efforts that reminds you that the Senators are a lot better than their current record indicates and that they are dangerously close to Rising part of #OttawaRising.
The Senators and Jets battle again at the CTC on Wednesday night.
While Shane Pinto and Jacob Bernard-Docker were both regular participants in practice the last couple days, they’ll have to wait until Saturday night to make their NHL debuts.
No changes expected to the lineup that beat the Jets on Monday night.

Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:00 PM. And by just, I mean exactly eight minutes after 7:00 PM. Those TV networks that tell you the game starts at 7:00 PM have been lying to you. They tell you the wrong start time so that you can watch a half-hearted game preview jammed with as many advertisements as possible. The nerve. Also, TV timeouts are two minutes long, and occur three times per period, during normal game stoppages after the 14, 10 and 6 minute marks of the period, unless there is a power play, a goal that has just been scored, or the stoppage was as a result of an icing. Please use this information wisely.
The game is available on TSN3, TSN5 and RDS. You can listen on the radio at TSN1200 or if you’re looking for a good stream, click here.
