Webster’s Dictionary defines a streak as “a period of repeated success or failure”. They go on to define winning as “relating to or producing a win”.
Still not getting it? Lou Brown, take it away.
What I’m trying to say is the Ottawa Senators are on a winning streak.
Three in a row, in fact. Each victory more impressive than the last. Outplayed the Red Wings in Detroit, found a way the next night in Montreal and then took it to the New York Rangers on Friday night.
They’ll look to keep it rolling as they enter another busy week.
The Senators are in Columbus tonight, home to the Bruins on Wednesday and then back on the road for a Friday/Saturday back to back in Minnesota and Calgary.
When the the Sens visit the Blue Jackets, it will be a homecoming of sorts for Anthony Duclair. Although home probably isn’t the word Duclair would use.
Duclair played in all of 53 games with the Blue Jackets, putting up just 19 points.
He never really seemed to mesh with Columbus Head Coach John Tortorella and just a couple days before he was sent to Ottawa in the Ryan Dzingel trade, Tortorella took a pretty good run at Duclair in the media.
While Duclair had fallen out of favour in three other cities, this kind of shot through the media seemed a tad personal. It was over the top, it was unnecessary and as it turns out, it was completely inaccurate.
Since arriving in Ottawa, Duclair has shown what he’s capable of under a Coach that believes in his ability. Ten goals and 15 points through 23 games. That includes 10 points in 12 games in the month of November. Dynamic on offence and responsible in his own end of the rink.
You know he’ll be looking to stick it to Torts tonight.
And while we’re on the topic, this is probably a good time to revisit what the Senators and Blue Jackets have to show for last season’s deadline deals.

Two weeks of good memories
Just an optional off-ice workout for the Senators this morning so the line up will remain a bit of a mystery until closer to puck drop. DJ Smith mentioned yesterday that Mikkel Boedker will draw in for Max Veronneau but it sounds the blueline is TBD.
Erik Brannstrom was not expected to make the trip., Cody Goloubef is questionable and Nikita Zaitsev is on his way back from Russia.
A best guess for now.

Here is a HEAD2HEAD table which now features a double-digit power play percentage for YOUR OTTAWA SENATORS. Ottawa Rising, indeed.
