Around the NHL, teams are gearing up for the playoffs while here in the Nation’s Capital, a painful season is coming to an end.
Just four games left in the regular season for the Ottawa Senators. They take on the Islanders tonight before returning home for fan appreciation night against the Devils on Thursday. Then on Saturday they’ll take a run at the Ontario Cup against the rival Maple Leafs before closing out their season on Sunday against the Penguins. And unless Columbus and Detroit lose all of their remaining games, that’s all that is left in the Sens season.
And then the long summer of soul-searching can begin. Some tough decisions will be made this off season but in the meantime, let’s try to enjoy these last four games and finish the season on a high note.
Just an optional morning skate for the Senators today so we’ll have to wait till game time to find out if there are any changes to the lineup. Colin Greening definitely won’t play and it sounds like Jared Cowen has been shut down for the season. MacLean suggested there’s a chance he makes a switch but he has not yet decided. For now, we’ll assume they go with the same line up as Saturday against the Rangers.
