Formenton to Make Season Debut vs. Flames

We’ll start with some bad news.

While the extent of the injury is not yet known, it does sound like Austin Watson is going to miss some time. According to reports from today’s practice, his left hand was in a cast. Not a great sign. He was clearly in pain after blocking a shot last night.

Goes without saying but that’s a huge loss to Ottawa’s bottom-six. Watson has been a heart and soul guy for the Senators all year and has been a great fit on the fourth line and on the penalty kill.

His absence will open up another opportunity for one of the team’s prospects though.

Alex Formenton was recalled from Belleville earlier today and according to the Head Coach, he’ll draw in tomorrow against the Flames.

Formenton is expected to start on a fourth line with Ryan Dzingel and Clark Bishop. Quite possibly the fastest line in Sens history.

Formenton has appeared in 12 games with the BSens this year, tallying four goals and has often demonstrated that high-end speed that makes him one of the most intriguing players in the system.

We’ll see what he can do tomorrow night.

Brady Tkachuk and Mike Reilly both missed practice today but should be good to go on Wednesday.

Here’s how they are expected to line up

Tkachuk-Tierney-C. Brown
Stützle-Norris-Batherson
Paul-White-Dadonov
Dzingel-Bishop-Formenton

Chabot-Zaitsev
Reilly-Zub
Wolanin-J. Brown
