We have officially entered PTO season.
It may not have the excitement of the post-season or the unpredictability of the off-season but it is a season, just the same. And on Sunday evening, the Ottawa Senators entered the fray.
Tyler Ennis, who appeared in 61 games with the Sens back in the 2019/2020 season, has been invited to Training Camp on a Professional Tryout Agreement. Ennis spent last season with the Edmonton Oilers, appearing in 30 games and putting up just nine points.
On paper, it certainly looks like Ottawa has at least one and maybe two openings up front heading into the season. Obviously Ennis feels like he has a real shot at cracking this roster.
Earlier this off-season, there was talk that Ennis had interest from a couple teams but none were prepared to make an offer. He also had a couple options in Europe and the KHL that he was considering.
Here’s Pierre Dorion on the move…
‘Tyler played well here in Ottawa in 2019-2020. He has considerable NHL experience and someone we’ll look forward to evaluating as camp gets underway. The PTO represents a good opportunity for both him and for us.’
Well, alright then. Welcome back, Tyler.
