Pierre Dorion and the Ottawa Senators are going to be busy in the next few weeks.
With 13 picks in the upcoming entry draft and just ten players under contract for next season, the To Do list is a lengthy one.
While there hasn’t been a ton of information coming out of the organization lately and although we don’t really know for sure that Pierre Dorion still exists, it’s possible that some “decisions” have already been made.
An example? Today’s Andreas Englund news.
The 24-year old defenceman is set to be a restricted free agent this summer but this announcement certainly gives the impression he’s joining the team on a more permanent basis.
And while it’s possible this is technically a loan, it certainly wasn’t a slam dunk that Englund would receive a qualifying offer.
A second round pick in the 2014 Draft, Englund appeared in 22 games with Belleville last season and another 24 with the big team in Ottawa, putting up just three assists along the way.
Englund is one of those guys seemingly stuck on the bubble between Belleville and Ottawa and with the likes of Christian Wolanin, Erik Brannstrom and Christian Jaros all higher on the depth chart, the writing may be on then wall for Englund.
Sens news! Sort of….
