The NHL Trade Deadline is less than a week away and rumours continue to swirl around the future of veteran defenceman Chris Phillips.
As the team departs for the West Coast, there is a chance that the long time Senator is playing his last couple games in an Ottawa Senator uniform. According to Pierre LeBrun from TSN, the Sens have offered Phillips a one year deal. Meanwhile, Phillips has made it clear that he believes he has at least a couple more seasons left and is seeking a multi-year extension. It’s a tough situation that both Bryan Murray and Chris Phillips will have to make before Wednesday’s deadline.
The Boston Bruins are a clear frontrunner should the Senators decide to move Phillips with some suggesting the asking price could be as high as a top end prospect and a draft pick.
