In the end, the two sides found common ground.
Ryan Dzingel was scheduled for a hearing this morning in Toronto but they signed a new deal just prior. It’s a two year deal that will see Dzingel earn $1.5 million next season and $2.1 million the year after.
Ryan Dzingel (OTT) has settled:
2017-18: $1.5m
2018-19: $2.1 m— Tim Wharnsby (@TimWharnsby) July 21, 2017
The contract carries a cap hit of $1.8 million which ends up much closer to the $1.95 million Dzingel submitted through arbitration. In exchange, the Senators get an extra year on his deal.
With Dzingel locked up, the Senators have now signed the last of their remaining restricted free agents.
