With the NHL Trade Deadline now just a little over 24 hours away, the moves have already started here in Ottawa.
This morning the Senators announced that they have placed Cory Conacher and Joe Corvo on waivers. Corvo isn’t all that surprising when you consider how little he has played of late and the fact that the team has tried to trade him at various points during the season. Conacher on the other hand is a little more perplexing. He was a key piece in the deal that sent Ben Bishop to Tampa Bay at last year’s trade deadline. Conacher never matched the offensive output he enjoyed early last season but was a pretty useful player for Ottawa.
According to Bruce Garrioch, Conacher can still play while on waivers. He is currently skating with Michalek and Spezza at the morning skate and is expected to play tonight. Can’t imagine he clears waivers though. With the Senators now down to 12 healthy forwards, you would expect there is another move to come.
