The Ottawa Senators played a game last night. Because it was against the Edmonton Oilers, they lost the game but their effort was good. Perhaps the best of the nine, actually.’
It was a night where you could certainly make the argument that the Senators deserved a better fate. They did a much better job against those two soulless freaks and basically carried the play for sixty minutes. If not for Mike Smith and a lucky deflection, the Senators come away with a win.
But instead, the Senators wrapped up their season series with the Oilers with a remarkable 9th straight loss.
The Senators have the day off today but are back on the ice tomorrow at 11:30 AM ahead of Saturday’s win against the Leafs. Some roster shuffling ahead of that one.
Formenton will spend the day on the taxi squad while Clark Bishop has been placed on waivers. Bishop has been a pleasant surprise in Ottawa’s bottom six over the last few weeks but presumably the team needs some roster flexibility with Shane Pinto and Jacob Bernard-Docker on the way.
Those two have now completed their quarantine period and are expected to join the team tomorrow. They’ll probably need a couple practices before stepping into the NHL lineup.
