Well then…
When the day started, it seemed like everything was headed in the right direction. The interview went well and from what I heard, the team was confident they had a good chance. What a difference 12 hours makes.
The Minnesota Wild have signed Bruce Boudreau to a four year deal and in the process, grabbed one of the top candidates from the Coaching market. It’s a frustrating outcome for the Senators and it means they now have to shift their focus to Plan B in their search for a new Head Coach.
Tough to know exactly what went wrong here but simply put, the Minnesota Wild put a better offer on the table. More term and more money each year. It really did seem like Boudreau’s preference was to end up in Ottawa but in the end, money talks.
Mike Yeo seems like the logical favourite now. Guy Boucher, Marc Crawford, Kevin Dineen and Randy Carlyle are also being mentioned as candidates. They haven’t talked to Bob Hartley yet but maybe now they at least request an interview.
