Just wanted to stop by and let everyone know that the Ottawa Senators did in fact wrap up their road trip in Philadelphia. And then, seemingly, disappeared from the face of the earth.
It has been ten days since we last saw our dear Senators and it sounds like it will be a couple more days before they return to game action. Ottawa is scheduled to host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday but with the Penguins currently dealing with an outbreak, it sounds like that game is still up in the air.
And so we wait.
But in these Sens-less times, just about any piece of news will do. And this morning, Pierre Dorion and company gave us exactly that. Honest to goodness, Sens news.
This morning, the team announced that they have signed 2021 first round draft pick Tyler Boucher to an entry-level contract.
Boucher has had a mostly uneventful year at Boston University, putting up just two goals and an assist through the first 17 games of the season. And that slow start is exactly why it sounds like the plan is to have Boucher join the Ottawa 67’s in the days ahead. Pierre Dorion is expected to provide additional details later this afternoon.
Here’s the Sens GM on the signing…
“We’re pleased to have Tyler under contract. He’s a power forward who plays a heavy, physical game. He’s driven, is strong with the puck, has a big shot and goes hard to the net. His good hands in tight areas will be of particular benefit to him going forward. We expect him to be an important part of this team’s future.”
Oh and if that’s not enough, the team also announced that Matt Murray has been recalled from Belleville.
It’s good to be back.
