As an entire Nation attempts to shake the cobwebs of an Olympic Gold Medal hangover, NHL fans will begin to reshift their focus to the stretch drive that lays ahead. With just over 20 games left, the mad dash for the last couple playoff spots in the Eastern Conference is going to come right down to the wire.
For the Ottawa Senators, it begins with a game against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night at the Canadian Tire Centre. The Wings sit just one point clear of the Senators for that final playoff spot in the East and will begin their post-Olympic schedule the night before in Montreal. Some huge games right out of the blocks.
Meanwhile, the Sens made a roster move late Sunday night, recalling Binghamton Senators leading scorer Mike Hoffman from the American Hockey League. It will be interesting to see where Hoffman lines up this time around. With the NHL trade deadline just over a week away, the timing of the move is also interesting. Always thought Hoffman might be the type of player that could get a regular chance to play on another team. Wonder if there are any teams interested?
Just a quick post for now but it sure is nice to be back to talking Senators hockey. The team is on the ice at 11:00 AM this morning. More coming after that practice.
