In times like this, the game of hockey takes a back seat.
This morning, Ottawa Senators’ Assistant Coach Mark Reeds passed away following a long battle with cancer. Reeds was 55 years old. He joined the Senators as one of Paul MacLean’s assistants back in 2011 and has been a huge part of the staff since then.
Over the last few weeks, you could tell that Mark’s battle was front of mind for many in the organization. Immediately following their playoff-clinching win in Philadelphia, Dave Cameron was quick to mention Reeds in his post-game media availability. Reeds was extremely well-liked in the room and as you’ll see from the messages on Twitter this morning, was a respected man across the hockey world.
Condolences to the friends and family of Mark Reeds and to the entire Ottawa Senators organization.
