The NHL playoffs start tomorrow night and if you’re like me you’re thinking, who gives a hoot?
Well, YOU do now.
This time of year, we’ve got to hold on to what we’ve got. It doesn’t make a difference if we made it or not. We’ve got each other and that’s a lot. Sooooo, we’ll give it a shot.
Due to popular demand (I think two people asked), I have decided to set up another Bracket Challenge on NHL.com. The rules are pretty straightforward. You pick which teams will advance in each series and how many games it will take. Then, points are accumulated based on the accuracy of your selections.
And thanks to the good folks at Hyperline, we have a great prize for our first round leader.
Whoever is in top spot at the end of round one will win SIX TICKETS (plus parking) to the Bon Jovi concert at CTC on May 7th. If multiple people are tied for the lead, we’ll do a draw (or split the prize depending on how many people are tied).

-While sixteen teams make their final preparations for the start of the NHL post-season, all the talk in Ottawa is surrounding the upcoming Town Hall series. The three events, which are being held exclusively for season ticket holders, will feature Owner Eugene Melnyk and General Manager Pierre Dorion taking what are expected to be mostly pre-screened questions from Sens fans. There will be limited media coverage of these events and it doesn’t sound like there are plans to record the sessions. The first session will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at the Canadian Tire Centre, with the second on Wednesday at 7 a.m. at the Ottawa Conference and Events Centre. Due to demand, a third session has been added for tomorrow night.
-For those that missed it yesterday, Guy Boucher met with the media in Ottawa and addressed a range of questions on what went wrong this year. Although after 35 minutes of listening, I’m not sure I have any better sense of exactly what the biggest issue was or how they plan to fix it. It’s pretty remarkable that in more than a half hour disecting the team’s struggles, Boucher didn’t mention goaltending once. Anyway, here is the video for those that are interested.
