(UPDATE 2:15 PM)- The Ottawa Senators made the news official this afternoon, announcing that they have reduced their roster to 22 players. Along with Mika Zibanejad, the team also announced that Jim O'Brien will start the season in Bingo. A full list of the final cuts is available here.
In a move that will come as a shock to just about every Ottawa Senators fan, the Sens announced today that they have demoted forward Mika Zibanejad to Binghamton.
With training camp as competitive as it was this year, you knew there were going to be some hard decisions for Paul MacLean and his staff to make. Sending Zibanejad to Bingo was certainly not one that anybody saw coming.
It's hard to imagine that he spends much time in the AHL but that's the way it will be to start the season.
