They don’t need to win four games today. They definitely need to win one though.
The Ottawa Senators look to stay alive as they host the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 4 of their first round series.
There are no words to describe what played out in Game 3. Some painful mix of shock, disappointment, frustration and anger all mashed into one party-ruining performance. And because of that effort, the Ottawa Senators now find themselves in a 3-0 hole for a second straight playoff.
As we saw last year though, the mood in a series can shift pretty quick when things start to go your way. It’s unlikely and it won’t come easy against a good Carolina team but we have to hope. Because that’s what the whole stupid hobby is about – hope.
The Sens will have to do it without their best defenceman though. Taylor Hall’s cheap-shot on Jake Sanderson, which for some fucking reason wasn’t worth a review in-game or after, has left Sanderson with a concussion and Ottawa’s blueline in shambles. Honestly, have no idea how they’ll line ’em up. Not sure how you can take Carter Yakemchuk for a spin though.
We’ll know the lineup a little closer to game time.
Tkachuk-Stützle-Batherson
Greig-Cozens-Giroux
Foegele-Pinto-Amadio
Cousins-Eller-Zetterlund
Kleven-Matinpalo
Chabot-Spence
Gilbert-Crotty/Yakemchuk
Linus Ullmark starts.
Puck drop is just after 3:00 PM. The sun is shining and there’s a playoff hockey game in Ottawa today.
Go Sens Go. Please.
