Sens Bounce Back at MSG- Highlights

Games like last night gives us some hope for the future with the contributions of Lehner,Stone and Ceci. The team showed some signs of fight when challenged .
Long season for sure but it could always be worse.

Really enjoyed the game last night. Big pluses: (1) Team defense was activated for 60 minutes — solid effort by all; (2) Lehner made the big saves; (3) Good omens for seasons to come in the play and leadership of Mika and Stone.

Tough year for players and fans (and coaches!) but the kind of season that ‘builds character’ for sure. Hoping to see a deal get done for #83 — always nice to see a winger somersault over a goalie when the season is on the line.

  • jimmyjohnson

I want Terry Murray to coach this team.

I’ve had enough, win or no win. Time’s up.

    • SensChirp

      Hmm
      Is that you Terry?

    • FistsofNeil25

      Terry Murray? Why?

If Bryan fires Maclean after one bad season only to hire his own damn brother I will officially jump off the Murray bandwagon.

      • jimmyjohnson

If Bryan fires Maclean, who else do you think he would hire?

If not Murray, then obviously Boucher should be pretty high on the list.

  • Zelle

Beautiful first goal by Stone, and great passing by the T line overall, I could watch that all day. I’ve been watching old clips where Silf had some awesome moves. I love Bobby but damn it’d be nice to have them both!

  • Lorenzo72

Sens need a new coach and a good sport psychiatrist.

    • SensChirp

No. What they needed was NHL defenceman capable of playing a puck possession game.

      • Roar…

This, this, and this :). Benoit was a pretty decent one. He’s looked good in Colorado. Cheap too :).

      • FistsofNeil25

Definitely. But they also need to do something about their defensive system, Maclean needs to re-think the way this team defends.

They also need a solid defensive line that isn’t built around a bunch of fourth liners.

        • Roar…

Is it really the system? Or is it Chris 190th out of 194 defenders in the national hockey league who gets to the puck, and then basically falls on his face. Gryba is about the same level of bad with the puck (Although without it, he’s quite decent). He’d be a decent fit as a 10-15 minute per night 6th/7th D. Phillips has no business being on the team at all, but we’re stuck with him. So who knows what will happen really.

          • FistsofNeil25

I think it’s the players and the system. Both issues need to be addressed. It’s not just guys like Gryba and Phillips who are struggling in our own zone..even Karlsson has had his problems.

          • Roar…

Yeah, perhaps. I wouldn’t blame the system for Karlsson’s mistakes though. I think that’s more a small lack of confidence (injury) which he’s talked about himself (needing a full summer to really get back to normal). Well, that and trying to do to much for a team that has struggled all year. He’s shown pretty incredible mental strength to have the season he’s had with everything going on. Probably a lot of nights with a lot else on his mind out there given the divorce.

          • FistsofNeil25

This year has probably been the most important of Karlsson’s development. For him to go through everything he has on and off the ice, it’s only going to make him stronger in the long run.

He’s frustrated me a lot this season, but I still believe he’s going to be one of the very best players in the world for the next decade. We’re so lucky to have him.

          • over at the EKLUNDstein place

It usually takes a FULL year to recover from the type of injury he suffered last year

His play this season easily met my expectations

      • jimmyjohnson

oh dear god, was Eric Gryba terrible last night!!! Wowsa!

      • Lorenzo72

One evening lose a home game the other night win a game away. This is psychology. Nothing more. Beleive me, I am Hungarian and we have a lot of problem with this. :)

      • over at the EKLUNDstein place

a 30 year old (Hell – even a 35 year old) Gonchar would have done wonders for this year’s team

      • Sensnation

We have the best puck possession dman in the league, he just doesn’t always want to play d.

      • Aaron 2.0

You mean Weircioch? Lol. We’re still missing a top-4 right now, but I find it funny this guy has sat as much as he has. He’s fits the system that MacLean is trying to use perfectly!

      • NickofTime

They have them but it will take time for them to develop into good NHL defencemen & this fan base has to be patient until they get there. It would be a real shame to trade away some good young defencemen only to have them develop into great NHL defencemen with another team. I’d give them another yr but the biggest mistake IMO was re-signing Phillips, he was the one who should have been traded.

    • son of a Diefenbaker

Ottawa needs a new owner most of all

    • over at the EKLUNDstein place

and the sport psychiatrist’s first patient would be “CSI” Eugene ?

  • whammer44

I’m a Spezza guy but after thinking about it for some time I think they have to move him this summer and get what they can for him. This team’s future is still a couple of years away. Makes no sense to reinvest in Spez, with his injury issues and the amount of money/term it will take. Zbad is ready for top 6 minutes (I mean look how he turned Smith and Neil into an offensive threat) and should be with Turris your 1 and 1A centres.

    I would want a top 4 D and a top 6 winger back.

    • FistsofNeil25

My thoughts exactly. This season really put things into perspective for me. At the beginning of the year I had high expectations. I expected that with a healthy Spezza, Karlsson, Michalek, Andy, and Cowen, we would build off the success the team has last year without them and do really well this year. I expected us to finish second or third in the division, safely in a playoff spot.

Fast track to today and I’ve realized that Spezza and Michalek are no longer the players they used to be do to a long list of injuries, and Karlsson, Cowen, Zibanejad etc are all still developing.

This team’s window of opportunity is still a few years away when Karlsson, Cowen, Lehner, Zibanejad, Turris, Stone, Puempel, Lazar etc are near or entering their primes.

It just doesn’t make sense to re-invest in Spezza and some of the other veterans at this point in time. We should get what we can for them this summer and finish the rebuild or re-tool, whatever you want to call it.

It’s time to turn the team over to the young guns. I think Turris and Karlsson are every bit as capable of leading this team as Spezza and Phillips are. Probably more so at this point in their careers.

      • whammer44

100% Agreed. I’m assuming Murray is smart enough to manage this but I worry Eugene interferes too much. I can’t believe BM decided to invest in Phillips based on a hockey decision.

        • FistsofNeil25

Yeah I definitely think there was some Melnyk interference on that Phillips deal. I doubt he wanted to see another long time Senator and pillar in the community after the way everything went down with Alfie.

          • Pasky

The Phillips signing might have something to do with a possible Spezza trade. They can give Phillips the captaincy for a couple seasons and see which young gun steps up in the meantime

          • Sensnation

I sure hope they don’t give Phillips the C. How’s that going to looks for the team. I don’t think he or his game motivates others, it’s more of a complementary piece.

          • Sandy

Well it was Melnyk mainly responsible for Alfie leaving..

    • Senator forever

      Agree!

    • Sensnation

      46.5% – faceoff percentage

He is not ready to be a #2 C. I know everyone thinks he is a better 2 way player than Spezza, but he’s not fully there yet and the loss offensively would not be worth it so early on in his career.

If Spezza is traded, this team is in full on rebuild again mode.

  • Roar…

SensChirp we cannot wait! Release this beast of a Spezza article you rumoured is coming Monday. We must know! You can’t say the words swan song and not tell us this is not fair. It feels like some sort of messed up nightmarish version of Christmas Eve.

In hindsight, as brutal as this season was, the Sens are only 3 wins away from a playoff spot. That’s 3 wins on an 82 game season.

On another note, the Sens can still beat the Leafs with 4 games to go. They can do it, Go Sens GO!

    • Cicero

In hindsight, I was only 3 bases away from getting laid by Jenny M. in Grade 9….

    • sell the team Eugene

in hindsight a ridiculous amount of afternoon games probably cost the team a Playoff spot

  • Floridasensfan

Karlsson is leading this team, Captain material if you ask me, standing up for his goalie and having conversation with refs. JMO If Spezza is gone no way CP or CN, this is Karlssons team.

    • Sensnation

Where have you been all year? Karlsson epitomizes what went wrong this year. Only trying when he wants, taking teams for granted. He is the furthest thing from captain material.

      • Floridasensfan

We can agree to disagree, I have not missed watching a game all year.

  • IBelieve

Alright SENS FANS! 4 games left, 5 points behind the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Sens came off with a strong win over the Rangers last night 3-2. Next up is the Islanders. Focus on that game. And if the Sens come out on top. Their next 2 games are critical. Facing the Devils and the Maple Leafs. If those games are won that is HUGE for positioning in the standings. Then last up would be against the Penguins. I’m hoping for it to be a meaningful game late in April. Just focus on 1 game at a time and hope for the best!

    GO SENS GO! BELIEVE !

No cap space for Spezza in TO. And Phoenix is not a bad destination…

      • 010101010

cap space is easy to make when you’re as rich as Toronto

why would JS19 ever consider waving his NTC to go to Phoenix ?

  • Cicero

    Minority opinon here….

We need Spezza next season. You lose him, you lose Hemsky, and we take nothing away from the lessons of this year except “when the going gets tough, hold a fire sale”. Not the atmosphere you want for a young team making progress. (I’m 50/50 on 9MM. He’s just the type of player that works well with 19 & 83. A perfect fit would be a LW natural scorer).

Firing Maclean is even more absurd. As a head coach, he is ‘young’, a part of the current rebuild. He too will learn and grow from this season’s adversity. He and BM will sketch-out a plan for the season.

Most importantly, wishcasting all major decisions is moot, because it all comes down to what Melnyk does (not says…the historical record speaks volumes) with the purse-strings.

    • Sensturion

Like x 1000. Good to see there are some people that understand the destruction a Spezza trade will wreak on this team.

      • Michenator

We shouldn’t get rid of Spezza unless we’re offered something that can’t be refused. If we get offered a high first rounder plus a good prospect or two I think you make the trade. Otherwise don’t even think about it.

    • Guest

Absolutely, gotta find a trading partner now and get back as much as possible. I believe if they decide to go with Turris and Zib as 1 and 2 C we’re much better off than going with Spezza, these are the kinds of guys you win big games with. Spezza just isn’t, time to move on.

      • sben

I think you’re clouded by the beginning of the year when spezza had no winger to play with.If we would have had Hemsky at the beginning of the year we would have made the playoffs by now. For most of the year spezza had no partner to play with. Michalek doesn’t count because his knee is no good anymore. When we got Hemsky his numbers boosted like crazy. He was playing a much better game. Personally I think the sens should either get a new winger to replace michalek because he hasn’t been playing at his level ever since that year he got 30 goals. If he could get healthy then that line would light up like crazy but Michalek will never get healthy. They need a winger that isn’t Michalek to play with Spezza and Hemsky to solidify those top 2 lines. Then remake the 4th and 3rd line. Bring up some players until those lines click. Get rid of Greening, Condra, Phillips, Put Cowen on an extremely reduced role. Make sure that every D-man is playing on their handedness side and tweak it a bit until they work. After that I think you have a really good team. I would personally bring up the whole Dacosta, Hoffman, Stone line and see what happens. We have too many good offensive forwards. trade them if need be.

        • Tcharger – Ryan-For-51

And you don’t think that zibbys already impressive numbers would improve a tonne playing with line mates that aren’t fourth liners?

Come on man…. I’m not all for trading Spezza but if he is the piece that is able to bring us another top 6 winger and top 4/5 D…. Anything else is just gravy.

          We would have
          Turris
          Zibby
          Smith

For sure as our centres. Of someone else can step into the third line and move Smith to the 4th even better.

          If we can have a

          Condra – Smith – greening

Fourth like I’d be pretty stoked (doubt it happens as I suspect Neil will be there because I can’t see him being moved)

          • Sensnation

Impressive numbers? His plus minus is as bad as Karlsson in half the time. Can’t blame that solely on his linemates. He also had Michalek as a linemate for a good stretch. He needs to be insulated and that’s why he’s playing with Smith. Nice skills, still a lot to learn and work on.

          • Tcharger – Ryan-For-51

Like was said before… Michalek isn’t exactly an all star anymore

          • Sensnation

All star? He’s still one of our top 6 wingers. Moving Zibanejad to a top 6 does not automate all star wingers. I’m not seeing your 1+1=99 scenario.

          • Tcharger – Ryan-For-51

            ???

Michalek shouldn’t be a top six winger…. We will not win if he is. I used to think he’d be ok as #6…but not so sure anymore.

          • Sensnation

Ok, so MacArthur, Hemsky, Stone are our all star wingers that he’d get?

          • Tcharger – Ryan-For-51

Who said anything about all star winger… I said michalek is not an all star.

Someone piss in your corn flakes this morning?

          • Sensnation

What are you talking about? I never claimed he was, so not sure what you’re point is. He’s still a top 6 player in the NHL, which is all I said. You’re the one that brought in the all star word as if you had a point.

My cornflakes are fine, you just aren’t making any sense.

Mommy and daddy? Wow who’s got the piss in their cornflakes.

Let me help you here. I said he’s had wingers like Michalek, which on this team is a top 6 winger. You said Michalek’s not an all star as if Zibanejad would get all star wingers playing in the top 6. What is your point?

          • Sensnation

So happy you clarified instead of whining like a little baby. What a waste of time.

          • Tcharger – Ryan-For-51

Holy shit idiot…. Let me spell it out for you.

Zibby hasn’t been playing a lot of top six minutes… He has been stuck playing with our bottom six most of the time.

Michalek – Spezza – hemsky (or whoever was being rotated there)
            MacArthur – Turris – ryan

That leaves zibby center in any of Neil, Greening, Condra…. Again whoever else we have rotated in.

IF zibby had been playing with players that weren’t plugs… He would look even better than he has this season.

Christ see if you are allowed to get outside and enjoy the weather before dinner is ready.

Well Karlsson has 70 points with that absurd +- and Jason Spezza has points in the 60′s as well with a horrendous +-. You have to think what could have been their +- if they were not producing this year. Also Zibanejad’s horrible +- is also due to playing on a line with mm9 and Spezza for stretches of the season. I know that in 90% of those games Zib was actually producing points.

It’s funny, I look at Zibanejad’s +/- and wonder how did he get there? It’s a round peg in a square hole for me. Just watching his game, I find him to be one of our more defensively competent players on the team. Obviously, the +/- doesn’t back that up. But, I’m wary of trusting that for Zibanejad if the sample is just this one season. His line-mates were an absolute joke this season. They changed often, and were often pretty inferior in the skill department. And, when he got better line-mates, it was on the Spezza line, which had pretty bad year in that department too.

I really like Smith. He’s one of my favorite players. But, I actually find Zibanejad to be more defensively competent. That’s not based on anything, just personal observation.

Bottom line though, even with Zibanejad’s +/- this year, I’m not at all concerned about his defensive play. But, i’m just one fan!

        • Aaron 2.0

I’m not sure having a winger earlier in the season for Spezza would have changed the outcome of the season. It would have helped a little, no doubt. But, the team actually scored enough this year! Until the defensive problems are fixed, it’s going to be hard to win consistently, IMO. Even last night in victory, we gave up more than 40 shots again. Scoring effects might have had a small effect. But that was 5 times in a row for Lehner’s last 5 games. It’s just out of control.

        • Zelle

Not sure why people still talking about “getting rid” of Phillips after he just signed a two year deal. It’s not happening. Best case scenario he gets reduced minutes as the 7th dman, imo.

    • sben

amid all the ridiculousness one comes out and speaks for what is right. This comment is exactly right. Agree 100%. BTW if this comment is a minority opinion I am worried for our fanbase.

    • Aaron 2.0

Agree 100% about our head coach. He minimally gets another year to learn and grow from this season. When it comes to Spezza, I find it a lot more difficult to have a personal opinion one way or the other. It would really depend on prognosis of future injuries, money and term needed for a new contract, the player’s own feeling about signing here, and what the organization would get back if he was moved in the off-season. Without being able to know any of those things, I don’t know what the right answer is. One this is for sure, he’ll continue to be at the forefront of discussion for sens fans.

Looking forward to your Monday write-up, Chirp!

    • Jesse

The only.problem will be lenght of term for Spezza. He won’t be looking for a 3 year deal. I’m sorry but I don’t want this guy at 7per for another 7-8 years. That isn’t logical IMO.

      • Aaron 2.0

I think you’re hitting the nail on the head, Jesse. For those that want to keep him, I’d challenge you to think about what it will take, and whether you think that’s in the best interest of the team long-term. For those of you that want him gone, I’d challenge you to think about what we realistically expect to get back for him (with his history of injury, contract status, and relatively bad season), and the challenges of replacing the goal / point production. It a really tough call, IMO.

        • Jesse

Listen for as long as I’ve been a fan of this team, I’ve had to defend Jason Spezza. I’ve defended him repeatedly and with some sort of pride. Plus/minus’ aren’t always a great way of determining a good two way game, with that in mind I would like for someone to tell me why Ovechkin has nearly scored 50 goals and he’s a -35? I heard on Team 1200 the other day, would you rather have Spezza or Ovechkin on your team? The truth is I’m not sure I want either or….they are basically the same player. The type that will never lead by example and win you a cup. If Spezza does stay, he remains the captain of this team and I’m not sure he’s got what it takes. Bring back all the Alfie memories you have of his early captaincy, he was always a better two way player than Spezza. It’s not always supposed to be your most skilled player who deserves to be captain.

      • Sensnation

He’s not even making 7mil this year. His last contract was front loaded for his prime. At 5mil this year and 4mil next year I could see his new contract in the 5-6mil area.

        • Jesse

That’s beside the point. With the cap going up, other teams would give him what he would ask for….which would be in the 6+ mil range. If you don’t think that’s the case, sit back and watch! I’m 100% sure some team below cap would gladly offer him 7+ mil at the length of term he wants. I don’t want a Dion Phaneuf type deal that handcuffs the team for that long.

        • Aaron 2.0

I’m guessing he’d get more on the open market than that. Would he be willing to take a discount? I don’t know. Players familiar with the organization might be wary about discounts after what happened with Alfredsson. I have to think with his injury history, Spezza will personally be looking for a good term too. I have no clue what other teams might be willing to give him on that front (term). But, it only takes one team to go crazy in UFA.

  • Sensnation

I think it’s time they put Zibanejad at wing. That goal last night just showed how much more lethal he is off the wing as a sniper instead of being the puck possession guy. Would like to see Pageau get more icetime at C.

    • Michenator

Him and Smith seem to have some chemistry going which is great!

In commentary, Denis Potvin may say some odd things now and then, but one thing he is a proven expert on is playing defence. A few games back, I thought he had some very wise words in critquing Karlsson’s play — how EK will skate with speed into the offensive zone, and try to create something on his own, or, he will join the rush too early. He pointed out that EK needs to learn to make the right outlet pass, hang back, then collapse the space when the Sens gain possession in the offensive zone. Potvin said that this is the way elite defencemen play a 200′ game.

I think this is something that EK will learn to do as he matures as a team player. He might be surprised by reward: many valuable opportunities on rushes as the 4th man; better ratio of scoring chances/shots; huge improvement in defensive positioning and likely in +/-.

    • Sensnation

Completely agree! If he truly wants to go down as one of the best ever, he needs to learn timing and the right spots to use his energy and speed for a full two way game.

    • Jonny

I wouldnt take anything Potvin says to be legit in today’s game, he played what, 20 years ago? He gets most of his instictive calls wrong after he see’s the replay, he changes his tune and sounds like a complete idiot. He blurts out his feelings on air and makes him sound so unproffesional.

  • Nicholas Rawlins

Sorry haters, spezza will not be going anywhere.

    • I’m just sayin’

      50 – 50 IMHO

It’s time for someone to make a “Tookie – miguel” bet with you

  • Sandy

Murray & McLean have to sit down early this off-season to determine what players they want to keep and which ones can be traded. McLean also has to give an idea to Murray as to what he wants in assistant coaches.
If Melnyk still insists on employing Cameron.. well let him work elsewhere in the organization.
For Reeds.. don’t know. He’s a good friend of McLean’s and he is fighting, most likely, cancer..

  • Sandy

“We’ve had some letdown games….we can call it a day and quit the season, but there’s a bigger plan for us. It was good to see the group came back, have a strong effort today and battle hard the whole game.”
Words from the winning goaltender last night. You gotta love Lehner.

  • Sandy

Someone at the Globe & Mail calculated Clarkson’s buyout in case the Leafs go that route..

    http://www.capgeek.com/buyout-calculator/?player_id=780

    • Phil.

That’s why he won’t get bought out. Doesn’t make $$ sense. The bonuses are guaranteed so the savings are minimal. His agent is a genius, someone in leaf management should get fired for missing that or accepting it.

  • aegiszx

The first mistake of the season began before the season even started… and that was letting Alfie walk (which, Eugene probablyyyy had something to do with…) and the second was not going right into the youth movement by making Karl the Captain.

Soon my friend, soon, the C will be stitched on…

    • Sandy

IMO before he gets the “C”.. he has to show more commitment on the defensive side… Some games, it looks like he just doesn’t care..
I love the guy.. but he still has a lot to learn.
Some of his issues, however, could be from his Achilles injury still not fully healed. I read in the recent article… that he will have issues with the scar tissue. Now not sure what that means.. they didn’t elaborate..

      • Aaron 2.0

If there’s still an issue with scar tissue , that would probably effect ankle mobility, and therefore also passive musculotendon and ligamentous force generation (i.e. reduced power in the ankle). If true, hopefully they’ll be able to break some of that down this summer. Also, I’m sure his strength in that area will get better with a proper off-season of training!

    • Sensturion

I don’t think Karlsson is mature enough yet to wear the ‘C’.

      • Jonny

I agree and his defensive game would have to improve drastically for him to get the “C”. Would be like giving the “C” to Mike Green or Ovie, look how that turned out. It was only to appease the fanbase.

    • not YOUR wingman

Karlsson was in NO SHAPE to become Captain last summer – marital woes – recovering from a major injury

      • Aaron 2.0

I’d love to see a “C” on Karlsson one day, but right now I think not having it suits him. It’s probably easier just to play his game without it. I wouldn’t want to add any extra burden to such a young guy with such an unconventional style of play right now. I just want EK to be EK. Ovechkin just doesn’t look like the same guy in Washington ever since he took the C.

  • Shibal

Puempel with 2 goals today( 27th and 28th goal); To think the guy was playing on the third line for half the season…. It would be very impressive if he scored 30 this season – he’s got 6 more games to pull that off.

    • HarvardYaleandPrincetonMan

8th in the AHL in goals scored this season
could easily finish 3rd or 4th

  • Zelle

CBJ playing some really good hockey, since Sens are out I think they will be the team I cheer for in the East.

    • Phil.

They have a good fan base and it’s a fun building to go to watch a hockey game. Many stayed loyal despite years of sucking and competing with OSU sports.

      • jimmyjohnson

It’s pretty hard to cheer against them.

    • Sandy

Yeah up 4-0 at the end of the 2nd.. 3 of the goals on the PP.. Maybe the Sens should be watching them also..

They would be matched up against Boston, if things stay as they are, right?

    • T K

Anybody, anybody, anybody but never Mtl or T.O….

      • sben

Funny seeing as were canadians and shouldl be cheering for them

        • The Apostle

Why? It’s a club tournament, not an international competition.

  • jtf927

i would like to see a return to the pesky sens attitude. we were successful the past few years because we were a hard working team with e defensive attitude. our culture changed this year and we lost that mentality, and as a result, our season. there has to be a change and it starts with the leadership. when the faces of the franchise (spezza and karlsson) do no commit to a 200 foot game, you cannot expect the rest of the team to do so. i would like to see murray commit to re-tooling the defense, finding a couple of stay at home d-men, and maybe even trade anderson for a more stable goaltender who can also mentor lehner. although it would be sad, if spezza did leave, it would be best for the future of the team. with the money, we can re-sign mcarthur and ryan. both of them along with turris, are much better defensively. we need to return to a more tight checking and defensive style. i hope murray has these plans in the off-season. i will be watching closely this off-season, and am hoping the changes this off-season will be positive.

    • Sandy

I think the Sens did have defensive issues last season as well.. just the goaltending was playing out of its mind..

      • jtf927

fair. but, i think having gonchar helped to stabilize our backend. it seems the loss of that veteran presence threw things off balance.

  • T K

For me, the iritating part is knowing that they are better than what the standings show. And knowing that they know it too is doubly iritating because they had the power and skill to do something about it and still chose not to.

I’m glad to be going away for a few weeks so i don’t have to hear every day about the post-season success of lesser teams.

    • Jonny

You talking about the B-Sens or Sens?

The standings for the Sens are pretty bang on for what we did this year, which was suck ass. Our goaltending couldnt keep its superhuman show going and our flaws were exposed even moreso.

I think the forward group is fine but the D needs work and Lehner needs to mature ALOT more if he is to become the #1. His temper tantrums wont last very long in the NHL

  • Jakester

Want to see Puempel’s 2 goals today? Here they are! 2 two new D we traded for are contibuting a lot last few games, Mullen and Grant.

    http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ar12E4PMUV8

    • Jakester

Cool seeing Kramer in action too! Lol

  • FistsofNeil25

Man the B-Sens are going to be stacked when the NHL season is over and Stone, Hoffman, and Ceci all get sent back down for the playoffs.

  • sprucesens

on the edge of my seat for the post tomorrow chirp. should be a good read with a ton of comments.

  • Captain Karl

Signing Spezza for any more than 3 years would be a mistake. In fact I view him the same way as the stock market. If you hold on to an asset long enough it will become worthless. There are only so many Jagr, Seleanne, Alfie types in the league. Most players start to trend downwards drastically in their 30′s. Just look at Lecavelier,Sedin twins. They are similar types of players to Spezza. Time to turn this team over to the next generation.

  • Tcharger – Ryan-For-51

    Its monday chirp!!!

    • SensChirp

Ha. Accidentally created hype about this post. Just finishing it up now.
