Senators vs. Panthers- Highlights

  • Colin

    Yea baby! Highlights!

    • SensChirp

Far more enjoyable after a win, I tell ya.

      • ProudSens

Now we need to make it 2 in a row. GSG

    • Luc Wolfe

Only good when we are winning

  • SensChirp

Senators are certainly getting good value on that Joe Corvo contract. A lot of people questioned the move by Murray but any time MacLean uses him, he has been fairly effective.

Now has 8 points in 12 games this season and next to Karlsson, has the best corsi for percentage if you’re into that sort of thing.

    • iKarly65

I questioned it because he was barely playing. I was wondering why they’d sign him to be a 7/8 defenceman. I guess he was insurance at first, which is paying off now that the guys projected to be 3/4/5/6/7 are struggling. But he provides many things the team needs back there: leadership, right-handed shot, and offensive mobility.

    • my2sens

I questioned the move at first as well – but seems to be paying off.

Could you explain this ‘corsi’ thing?

      • SensChirp

        A good definition here…

Corsi is the number of shot attempts by a team or player. In other words, it’s the sum of a team or players’s goals, shots on net, shots that miss the net, and shots that are blocked. It’s used as a proxy for puck possession: since we can’t (yet) measure how long a player or team has possession of the puck, we use corsi as an approximation. We’re interested in puck possession because you can’t score if you don’t have the puck (and the team that has puck more often usually wins). For players, we usually measure “on-ice” corsi, or all of their team’s shot attempts while they’re on the ice.

        • my2sens

          Thanks!

        • Aaron 2.0

Wow chirp! Sounds like you’re sort of getting “into that sort of thing” a little bit yourself. Nothing seems to split fans more than statistics in hockey, but, these numbers can certainly provide a coach with some useful information providing that the sample is sufficiently long.

    • RUSH RLZ

Short of a trade that impacts the blueline, I think Corvo should be in the lineup every game for the rest of the year. Certainly one of our most consistent/composed guys out there.

      • Tooks

I agree man, Corvo has been our most consistant D while he has played. As long as Cowen/Gryba stay 3rd pairing, I’m ok with Phillips/PW46/Corvo being the regulars at 2nd pairing.

        • TookieIs100PercentRight

He’s a mediocre D-man and the fact he’s our best at the moment is more than a little worrisome. That said, as long as he doesn’t eff up in our zone too often it’s fine.

  • my2sens

Last night, for a change, was an enjoyment to watch (after the 5 on 3).

Andy was dandy – made some huge saves. Didn’t seem to be fighting the puck and was in position for most of the game.

Condra/Greening – amazing what putting a puck in the net will do for confidence – they were all over. Especially Condra!

Bobby Ryan!!! Why didn’t he look happy to score?

And I am going to rain on the parade… only negative (again) is the PP. We NEED to improve… especially when teams are giving opportunities like that…

Either way – great GAME!!! GO SENS GO!!! Next – Bolts!

    • iKarly65

Yes, Anderson played very well, after allowing two quick goals. It was looking like a repeat performance from him, but it turned out to be a wise decision leaving him in there. If Ottawa couldn’t get any offence, this would be a different story. Fortunately they were able to help him out.

    • Tooks

As for Bobby Ryan, it was a tap in, you dont get all happy about tap ins. Act like you’ve been there…

  • Luc Wolfe

Reason why we won last night was due to my wife giving birth to our first baby daughter. A new sens fan has emerged.

    • SensChirp

Amazing! Congratulations to you and your wife. Sounds like Sens Army is growing rapidly these days.

    • my2sens

Amazing and congrats!!! Keep pumping them out, we need more wins!!!!

      • Luc Wolfe

We want 2 more for sure.

    • boom

      Congratulations Luc.

    • LeafsSux

      Congrats!!!

    • s3nsfan

      Congrats!

  • Hax

Yeah of Corvo, after the initial WTF? after I heard the news I settled on thinking he’s dirt cheap and can easily rot in the press box if everyone else plays up to potential. A good guy to have around if the power play struggles or if someone gets hurt etc. Turns out of course that he’s played very well and the rest of the D core as a group has played poorly. So definitely a great signing in hindsight. I still hope of course that by the Olympic break he’s in the press box most nights because everyone else is on track.

  • Hax

Haven’t heard/read MacLean’s post game yet, but based on ice time and a little conjecture, I’m assuming the line switch was partly about protecting Greening from potentially getting embarrassed playing a position he hasn’t played in a long time but mostly about just rolling four balanced lines and getting back to basics. I know everyone hates Condra on Spezza’s line but with MacArthur on the other side you can’t say Spezza has nobody to play with and Condra being there sort of forces Spezza to skate to keep up to his wingers. Also takes a bit of pressure off Spezza defensively while at the same time encourages him to keep things simple.

I hope PMac keeps these lines for a couple of games and then shifts back to a more traditional set of lines. Mika is being wasted somewhat but Conacher had one of his best games in a while so even he’s okay for now.

    • Tooks

I’m ok with Conacher on the 3rd/4th line, I think it fits him very well to bang and be a pest. We completely lost that Bishop trade, so get over it.

Mac and Spezza you could see that would work, Spezza can be more offensive with Mac actually reading what Spezza wants to do and Mac can also play a very effective 2 way game, covering up for Spezza. Condra, well, he isnt top 6 worthy, ya he scored, on a great play by Spezza but was invisible the rest of the game.

I think Zbad can do just as much defensively as Condra but add way more offense on the top line. Spezza finally getting some players that can read off of him and not just skate in straight lines (MM9, Greening).

      • sens23

i dont know about the sens losing the bishop trade. you cant look at how bishop is doing now because bishop was never going to get that shot in ottawa.
so they traded a back up goalie for a player who contributes in the sens top 9, how often does that happen? take into account the sens acquired bishop for a draft pick which turned into a player who isnt even a point a game guy in the WHL, he may never turn out

        • Tooks

Who would you rather have RIGHT NOW and for the future…Bishop or Conacher…ya its that simple…Bishop.

          • MikeS

Who would you take right now? Bishop or Lehner. Its that simple

          • Tooks

            Bishop.

          • SenaWalrus

            Palm meet face! Speechless…

          • Tooks

You would not take Bishop now? You would rather go with a back up who might play 20 games this year?

Bishop is on pace for a Vezina type season.
Right now its a no brainer. And the point wasnt Bishop for Lehner it was Bishop or Conacher…

          • TookieIs100PercentRight

I’d rather Bishop + Lehner + whatever assets we would have got for Anderson in the off-season (2nd round pick? Forward prospect?) after his Vezina-type season. Murray was too cautious there.

  • Mark

I like Corvo when he last played in Ottawa and this year he has been great. I the guy was a few years younger I would be trying to sign him for a few years.

    • SensChirp

He’s a little more “high risk” than the other defenceman but other than Karlsson, he’s really the only one that consistently generates chances to score.
And while he has lost a step from the last time he was here, he can still be counted on to skate the puck out of his own end with speed. Something that again other than Karlsson, no Ottawa defenceman can do very well.

  • Hax

So Lundqvist re-ups for 7 years, $8.5M. That does not bode well for a Lehner extension. Not that he’d get close to that but it certainly raises the bar a bit. Honestly, I almost hope that Lehner is “okay” the rest of this year and Anderson returns to form completely. Then we can extend Lehner to 8 years with an AAV in the $4-5 range maybe over the summer. Then sit back and wait for the best offer on Andy.

    • Alcatraz

      Way over priced

Lehner will not make more than Bernier. Lundquist used the Quick/Rinne deal of 7.5 as his benchamrk. Lehner will use Rask first contract out of ELC and Bernier and Reimer and Halak and Schneider as his baseline
3 years 9 mill is what I see

      • Hax

That’s one likely option. But I’d rather sign him long-term ASAP. After 3 years at $3M per (remember that it wouldn’t kick in until 15-16) he’d be in line for Hank money adjusted to whatever the cap is by then – so could be insane. Agree he’s going to get compared to Rask more than Lundqvist but I’m still hoping we sign him to max term.

        • spezzerman

I doubt Lehner is interested in a long term deal. he will want 3-4 years max so he can cash in once he is established

          • Hax

Agreed, but it doesn’t mean we can’t find a number that he’ll accept for an 8 year deal that makes sense for us as well. Odds are somewhat slim but my thinking is this:

If Anderson is still considered the #1 this summer, in negotiations we can use that. Murray can say: “Look we’ve told you for a while you’re our future #1. Let’s make it official right now by signing you to an 8 year deal at $4M per.” (Or whatever the number needs to be.) So it’s a bit less about cashing in and leveraging the fact that Lehner really wants to be the #1 now.

Not saying it would be easy and maybe not even possible, but I think with our team always being penny conscious that getting Lehner inked long term for a low number should be a goal for Murray.

          • spezzerman

            of course it should.

          • Jacques

Why commit that long – potential suicide – you have Driedger-Brassard-and Hogberg coming up. Lehner , lets feel him out for a few years. No time to pull a DiPietro.

          • Hax

I just think he’s going to be solid. And if he’s signed for a reasonable number (unlike DiPietro) it’s not the same type of suicide or risk.

      • Hax

Then again, if the Lundqvist deal ends up looking like the Luongo deal in hindsight, maybe buying some time with a 3 year deal is actually the best way to go.

      • Tooks

Ya no way this effects Lehner, the body of work for Henrik L is what is at stake here, Lehner has barely enough work to justify a 3Mil contract. He’s got a ways to go to match The King.

    • Conor_smythe

I dont see how this contract relates to Lehner in the slightest

a 10 year vet with some of the best numbers in the game vs. a goalie who has played 1 full nhl season as backup, and will still be backup at the time of his new contract

you think this team signs lehner to 4-5 million if he has an “ok” season??

He could have the season of his life and he will not get 4-5million AAV

Ottawa will sign him to a cowen/turris/anderson/macarthur type contract. he’ll make 3.5 if he’s lucky

      • Hax

Not directly of course but it impacts the goalie market as a whole. And I’m only thinking $4M for Lehner if it’s a 7 or 8 year deal. Basically an overpayment now but a steal later on. That’s what Murray often tries to do.

    • Jacques

Stupid Contract – should never commit that much money to a goaltender.

  • Guest

The King of NYR just signed a 7 year extension worth 8.5Mil a year!!

  • FistsofNeil25

Well I’m sure glad we got the win last night and Andy looked much more confident in net. He made a few massive saves and he looked more like his old self, swallowing up pucks and not allowing many rebounds.

A win is a win and I’ll gladly take the two points but there were still some serious negatives from that game.

    - We out-shot and out-possessed Florida in the game, but did it not look like Florida was still getting the higher quality scoring chances?

    - The PK was brutal again. What Condra was doing out of position on the Campbell goal is beyond me. Michalek and Methot were already high along the boards and Condra skated over to help dig out the puck, leaving Karlsson and Andy out to dry as Campbell walked in and picked the top corner.

    - The PP was an embarrassment. It’s the one thing that has never been very strong under the Maclean-Cameron-Reeds era. I’ve never understood why they insist on throwing out the Smith line or putting Phillips out there. It’s a goddamn 5-on-4 advantage!! Put your best offensive players on the ice together!! Any combination of Spezza-Ryan-Karlsson-Turris-MacArthur-Corvo-Zibanejad should me out there together. No one else man!!

    • Miguel

      Great points on the PP
I am getting concerned about PM stuborness to always have #4 at you point to start the PP, and then end it with Neil Greening Smith Condra
I can understand putting ONE big body with no hands in front of the net, but having 5 of them is simply killing your own PP
Someone has to get a hold of this PP

  • Hax

One thing that really bothered me last night was the Upshall thing.

On the play where he ran over Andy I’m sure Neil was ready to fight him but Upshall ended up in the boards (and likely made sure everyone thought he was hurt to avoid having to answer for Andy). But then on his next shift after his penalty he was right back in the blue paint and the Panthers nearly scored again. In my mind – someone should have made him answer for it and if he refused we should have ran Thomas.

Too often in the past this team let Alfie get run over and never did anything and I used to think that maybe Alfie had made it clear to his teammates that he didn’t want them to do something like that. But crap man, Andy’s been taking a beating in more ways that one lately and I think it would have been huge if one of his D-men had said “enough is enough”.

I have no idea how Andy feels or what’s going on on the bench of course – but as a fan I would have like to see Upshall pay for his BS.

    • Alcatraz

For sure, but on flip side, we have all complained that we are taking too many penalties, we had already surrendered 2 PK goals. We are undisciplined as is. I don’t think we were in the position to take a 2 or 4 minute penalty to make Upshall atone for his bullishness

      • Tooks

It was pretty evenly called, even to say we got the best of the refs last night. Spezza got called for GI, so did Upshall, Boyes didnt get anything as he was pushed in by CMac. (actually saving a goal there IMO)

      • Hax

Not suggesting someone take a penalty. Just that someone should have challenged Upshall. And if he declined then when we were up 4-2 maybe run Thomas. Just basically wanted someone to show they gave a shit that Andy got crushed.

    • Tooks

If somemone takes it into their own hands it cancels out the PP as they will get a penalty or worse, we end up on the PK. Goalies have ton of gear, most of the time they dive or embellish it.

The only one that looked like it could have hurt was when CMac pushed that guy into Andy and his helmet came flying off, but then again, he took about 35 seconds to shake it off and was right back at it.

  • yawn

WOW – look at all of the empty primo seats in the Florida rink
Time to move that team to QC or Hamilton (errrr Milton)

    • Tooks

You would think that the FLA Org would move all those people up in the 300/400 down to 100 lv seats to atleast make it look full for the TV, LOL.

      • SensChirp

        I think they did!

        • Tooks

Sad…so sad! Move that team ASAP!

    • aegiszx

Honestly not surprised, it’s Florida. It’s NOT a sports state. They have to give free tickets away for the Heat (3 championships) and Dolphins games.

There have been extensive studies on the state (no pun intended) of sporting culture… It’s not viable what so ever. If they cant sell Football, how the hell can they sell Hockey!

    • Hax

The team has an ownership stake in the building (or vice-versa) and the building does about 300 events per year. So while as a hockey fan I’d love to see them move to Quebec, they’re not in any financial distress. They’d only move if the NHL forces them to (which Bettman won’t do) or if somehow current ownership loses interest.

      • spezzerman

I don’t know, I can see Bettman moving the panthers. NHL keeps an FLA presence in Tampa. The NHL doesn’t benefit from those events would they? I definitely see the Panthers as the next team on the move

        • Hax

Move them? Sure. “Force” them? I doubt it. But there’s a grey area in between I guess.

I’m all for moving one team out of Florida – especially if it goes to Quebec City.

    • Phil.
  • Alcatraz

Of note, Phillips is now only 78 games away form being the franchise leader in games played (Record rpeviously owned by Alfie)
I have no doubt he will make it there by next year

    • Hax

Yeah seems likely that he’ll resign here. Especially considering how desperately we need veteran help on D now – can’t see us giving up a guy that fills that role well. Hopefully it’s as a 5/6 guy since that’s his best fit I think. Though that means either a trade happens or Cowen and Wiercioch get their acts together.

      • esk

What makes you think he wont leave in chase of a cup? probably bad idea for his resto though haha

        • Hax

It’s possible I suppose but the resto does actually come into the
decision I’m sure. If he ends up retiring here versus winning a cup
elsewhere that could have an impact on the success of Big Rig (though
          likely small).

        • TookieIs100PercentRight

Phillips doesn’t seem like th type that cares about winning that much. He likes being comfortable, same job every day, go to the pub to test your beers, don’t do much moret than you have to; basically a government worker on skates.

          • esk

            lmao

  • MethotToMyMadness

Good all around game by Ottawa, a few misses, but for the most part, I liked the way they played. It was nice to see 3 guys all get there 2nd goal of the year. We need to continue with mixed contributions like that if we want to win games.

I also liked the way the D finally advanced on the puck, instead of backing off and letting the offensive guys come forward. There were still a few plays where they did back off, but not as many.

And it was nice to see Andy look like his old self. He started a little off kilter, but he picked himself up and pushed on and that’s what we’ve all been expecting.

A little none Sens news. Lundqvist signed for 7 years with an 8.5 Mil cap hit!!! Holy Crap

  • sprucesens

still a relatively sloppy game that we, for once, were on the positive end of the penalty calls. Not often that happens. But we need to learn how to actually use a PP. I think 2 or 3 of the PP’s, florida had multiple high risk scoring chances. Maybe its time we change up the umbrella style. We know karlsson like’s sliding the line, but it’s just not effective when he’s paired with Phillips and the like…
On a positive note, karlsson has looked spectacular the last few games. World class rushes while he effortlessly turns players inside out and gains the zone with control. Also, corvo, while not as flashy and not turning players inside out, uses his speed and keeps control of the puck as well. That’s exactly what our inconsistent D has been missing. Keep those 2 playing lots of minutes. My vote right now is:
    Methot-Karlsson
    Phillips-Corvo
    Cowen-Gryba
PW swapped in and out for faltering players.
Still think we need a trade to bring boro back up, and clear out some extra forwards that don’t belong. Hoffman will be here to stay this year, so long as mac doesn’t drop him to 4th line with Neil and smith, which I still consider the 4th line.
Time to build the wins is now. We need to win at least 75% of the games this month, or its sell anyone we can that doesn’t have a future on the team, to finish the rebuild.

    • Tooks

      75%!! LOL
Thats a hefty expectation that is surely to fall flat on its ass. 75% for a squad that hasnt shown any consistancy in winning games, let alone put 2 wins together. We played the Panthers folks, a perennial bottom dweller and we didnt look too good beating them.

There is no indication that this team can win 75% of this months games, let alone 65% for the year. I dont know where you guys get your weed but I want some!

      • sprucesens

lol, it certainly wasn’t an expectation that we’d win 75% tooks, it was me stating what would be needed to actually get us back into a decent spot. I’d be amazed with our current play if we go .500

  • Tooks

One would have to think EDM could not refuse this…could they?
    Anderson + Cowen + Stone
    for
    Eberle + 2nd Rd pick.

    • Alcatraz

considering the state of our defense i still prefer the Kulikov for Cowern swap, if anything just to try and keep our defense in a projected movement
also if we are offering that I want Dubnyk back, because a Lehner-Lawson tandem scares me

      • sprucesens

lol….and dubnyk doesn’t scare you?? the only reason he would be included in the deal is because of anderson, not because we want him over one of our goalies. I’d sooner run with hogberg and dreidger than dubnyk right now..

    • Sensnation

I’d take it if I were them, but where does that leave our D this year? I’d love to get Eberle don’t get me wrong, but we’d need a 3rd team involved sending us a Dman, even it’s a temporary skilled veteran until Ceci is ready. I still say too early to give up on Cowen though, this team’s season should not be resting so hard on his shoulders.

      • Tooks

Yeah our D struggles but with or without Cowen it wont change much, PW46 might actually add more puck movement and some offense on the PP.

They could easily bring up Claesson or Boro or get a UFA D man to fill the 7th spot. We have lots of mobile D-men coming up.

        • sprucesens

I would really love if we could pry eberle out of Edmonton, and I think cowen and Anderson would be 2 pieces going that way. I don’t think murray would be too quick to make the trade though, as he likes keeping players he just got under contract to show that he believes in them, especially one’s he drafted.
Our D would be fine without cowen, even if he does turn into a stud. I was never a fan of boro in previous years, but this year alone, he is far and away a better player than cowen. thus making cowen expendable. We have gryba and boro as reliable hitters, so turning cowen into a young talented top 6 in eberle would be fantastic. The only problem with trading Anderson now, is we lose all pull for signing lehner on the cheap. So its not likely to happen.

    • runningbear1974

seems too good for us… I don’t think they would go for it…

    • iKarly65

personally I’d rather stick with our top 6 as McArthur-Turris-Ryan and Hoffman-Spezza-Zibanejad. If you trade those guys (Cowen and Anderson) you do it for picks and/or prospects. Eberle is good and all, but he’s a) making $6M and b) bumps someone from the top 6, and on the right side that’s Ryan or Zibanejad (who has only one goal less than Eberle).

      • Tooks

        MacArthur Spezza Eberle
        Ryan Turris Zibanejad

I like Hoffman and all but Eberle easily bumps him out of the top 6.

        Our Defense no worse…
        Methot Karlsson
        Phillips Corvo
        PW46 Gryba

With still plenty in the wings, Ceci, Claesson, Boro, Sdao, Rutkowsky

        Goalies,
        Lehner
        Dubnyk/Lawson

    • esk

calm down. lol anderson can probably get us a 1st round pick alone…and think cowen/eberle swap is pretty fair on its own….we are overpaying in that deal

      • Tooks

Eberle is a World Class player (on any other team he would be top 10 each year), doubt we can say the same for Cowen, no they dont cancel each other out…lol.
And nobody will give us a 1st for Andy, you crazy, I’m talking top 15 pick, no way, maybe 28th-30th for an aging vet who is struggling.

        • esk

there both underperforming..anderson was untouchable less than a year ago..vezina candidate what two years in a row?..he is only 32…cowen was a top ten pick and coming off an injury…also defensemen take much longer to hit their prime…still huge upside.

          • Tooks

So was Brian Lee and where is he now…Injuries, bla bla bla. Cowen is quicly becoming the next Brian Lee. I dont know where you see huge upside (tremendously slow footspeed, inexistant first pass, puck handling is atrocious and hardly hits)

          • esk

I see what your seeing…but it would be a big gamble to give up on cowen..you cant argue that.

    • MethotToMyMadness

More than fair for JE and a 1st. Eberle is the big name in the deal, but I think it would have to include a 1st rd pick, before BM did it. He’s trying to get that back.

Cowen is worth a 1st himself, even if he hasn’t been impressive this season, big D like him don’t come cheap. So he and Eberle somewhat wash each other out. And Anderson, while not at his best this season, is still good enough to land us a 1st, especially with a Team that needs a #1 who’s not being ridiculously paid. And then the addition of Stone in the deal, that’s more than fair.

      • Tooks

Cowen is not worth a top 3 pick…What are you guys smoking?

        • MikeS

He said 1st, mind you edmonton’s looks like a top 3

Getting a first back I would do this deal in a heartbeat. We would absolutely HAVE to do another deal to shore up our D though… pilfer Florida probably. @esk I really don’t see Anderson being worth a first at this point, let alone a good shot at the NUMBER ONE pick. :)

    • Jacques

Much rather do Spezza , Anderson, and Stone

      For

      Gagner and Eberle.

Then send Cowen to Florida for Kulikov.

      • Jacques

        Hoffman-TUrris-Ryan
        MacArthur-Gagner-Eberle
        Michalek-Zibby-Conacher
        Greening-Smith-Neil
        Condra

        Something like that.

Great win by the Sens last night!

I guess a few of their afternoon naps continued into the 1st period, but really good job coming back from there!

    GO SENS GO!!!

  • Dr Sens

I was at the game last night, great to see a live game again that was fun.
The building here is really nice and I was in the second row of the 400s and had a great view, comparable to 300s in Ottawa, the fan attendance was sad as was the cheering for the Panthers, the loudest it got a little kid behind us kept yelling go panthers go and he was fully alone, kind of felt bad for him.
20 dollars per seat cheapest game I have ever been too, parking was 20.00 and a coke was 6.00
just letting you know what was like for those interested.
You guys are so lucky to watch games in Ottawa for a whole lot of reasons.
A win was a given but great to see, we made more noise when the sens scored than they did when they scored.
The fans took the loss well, kind of no big deal, think they see a few.
Anyways really enjoyed the game live, going to be hard to watch thursday on TV

I’m going down in March for the Sunrise, Tampa trip… My second one…

The arena is Sunrise is really nice.. but no one goes. We are sitting at the end in the lower section.. 9 rows up. Tickets are $30..

Hope the game last night gives Andy some confidence and gets back to playing the way Andy can.

Tomorrow night will tell us if this team has turned it around. Tampa is a really good team and Bishop has been playing really well.

Reading an article in the Ottawa Sun tonight….

“Bryan Murray was reminded by Panthers defenceman Ed Jovanovski how tough it is to come back from major hip surgery the other night, so he understands a little clearer what Jared Cowen is going through.”

Most of us let Karlsson work his way back from the Achilles without trashing him too much when he was making mistakes — understanding it was the injury still limiting him.

Too bad we can’t give the same consideration to a young defenseman named Cowen. All most want is him out of town..

Nice post Sandy, I think this help us all think a little clearer about the situation. I recall all of the future Chara comments as early as last season. This guy is going to be huge for us moving forward; but damn if i don’t feel for him when he makes those bonehead plays too.

  • Tooks

Is Bishop vs Lehner a possibility or are we going with Andy again…
We need to take advantage of a Stamkos’less Bolts, 2 in a row would be nice!

    • spezzerman

We definitely need the points! Anderson kept us in that game after surrendering the first two so I am ok with either. My money is on Andy starting

    • my2sens

I think Anderson has earned this start. He played solid last game (took the Panthers a 5 on 3 to score)…

    • xN1Cx

Yeah I’d give the nod to Andy. Those could saves when he was stickless against the Panthers were buttery smooth. I’m looking for a huge game from him tonight!

    • MikeS

Id give it to andy for the simple reason that I think he will be really motivated to outplay bishop

  • Hax

Totally possible: Sens win tonight, leafs lose, Sens win on Saturday and then boom: we’re one point behind the leafs for 5th. Though the metro division is looking a bit less weak so 5th isn’t a lock for playoffs by a long shot. But still – big change from a few games ago.

    • MikeS

Ya, with toronto in a freefall(lost 5 in a row) and tampa suffering without stamkos I feel like average hockey will get us to the playoffs

  • s3nsfan

Man chirp, 1030 am an no game day post, if you weren’t with a new baby, I’d totally have to say you’re slackin’ LOL jk

    • my2sens

      He’s making a table :-)

      • SensChirp

Waiting for the combinations from the morning skate. Today’s Game Day post includes a pretty wacky “Daily Chirp” too. No table though :(
