Bruins vs. Senators- Highlights

  • MikeS

    Any news on Ryan’s status?

  • 65kwhissell19

very intertaining game. hope ryan is ok

  • Jer6

Such a rough start to the game my oh my… But I must say that was PESKY!

    • 65kwhissell19

it was a rough start there was one part of the game in the first were Ottawa looked bad for 5 minutes.

      • Millennium

Ottawa looked terrible for the first 19 minutes. The only positive was that Turris move.

        • 65kwhissell19

no way. they were passing the puck out of there own zone pretty fast. and boston only had 13 shots instead off 22 prtty well every single first period game this year. witch would mean its an inprovment. and there now way it was for 19 minutes of that first. the first 3 minutes of the game came the neil line hitting anything. then turris came out.

          • sprucesens

so many grammatical errors and spelling mistakes, I can hardly understand what you were trying to say. Hope it was just too many beers. Either way, sounds like a good win

  • SensChirp

On Bobby Ryan- Was told he was seen walking out of the rink with no visible injury. Saw some people suggesting it may be a leg issue in the last comment section but we can certainly rule that out. If it’s a head thing, we won’t know how he’s feeling until today.

    Fingers crossed

    • MikeS

Thanks, I just hope hes ok. Thats 3 straight games a star player has been injured vs the bruins

    • Millennium

To me, the part that was getting looked at as a leg injury seemed more like a guy who was having trouble standing up after getting his bell rung. Lights were on, but nobody was home.

      • MikeS

Ya, I figured that but you never know with injuries. It did look like he was favouring his right leg when he got up

  • MikeS

Chirp, do you think seidenberg will get suspended?

  • MikeS

Leafs just made a trade for some center depth, minor move but interesting

    • 65kwhissell19

Holland. there saying he is a highly-skilled centre. guess we will see soon since they need help at c pretty bad. 2 2014 picks. for Holland and Staubitz

      • sprucesens

i’ve heard nothing but really good things about holland. Staubitz is just filler. A good move on the leaf’s part, which i’m not a fan of. Since when do they make smart moves? Does make for a crowded center posistion though. Maybe it’ll stir up some controversy or something to screw them over. Also, they lost to buffalo! Yay

        • 65kwhissell19

ya saprized they don’t make good moves like that to much

    • 65kwhissell19

oh wow he is a 2009 1/15 overall pick. he 6”2.

    • JBL11

Leafs are pretty high on Percy (Wiercioch-type player), making Blacker dispensable. Looks like a pretty decent trade for the leafs. Desperation move, obviously. Dumb “accidental” play by Kadri really forced Nonis to make a trade. Better tell McClement to start handing out resumés…doubt he’ll be back next year

    • Sandy

So all of these Leafs fans boast about the great depth their team has.. and they have to bring in another centre to cover 2 freaking games? They brought in Smithson last week.. now Holland. Kadri & Bozak will both be back next week.. What’s going to happen to those new players they brought in?
Wow.. they sure don’t have any confidence in their AHL players… do they.

  • SuckitPhaneuf

Can someone please explain to me why Kassian keeps being played while Hoffman/Stone/Pageau are available

    • not YOUR wingman

Last 2 opponents have been Philly and Boston

Kassian will ALWAYS play against them

      • 65kwhissell19

plus its a good thing for them 3 down there they get top end minutes so it goes a long way for there development.

  • Mexican Baby Jesus

Ryan skating with the team according to Wallace. Good news

  • boom

Ok, will anyone else admit that they were surprised how well the pair of Cowen-Gryba played? I thought they would be exposed by the Bruins speed, but they were fine.

    • Millennium

In the first, Cowen was the worst player on the ice. But the whole team was terrible, so its hard to point a finger in a case like that. From the second on, I didn’t notice him as much (goal not withstanding), which is generally a sign he’s doing his job properly. I’m not one to change my opinion after one game (for better or worse), but it sure would be nice if he is turning a corner.

    • Jacques

Not surprised by Gryba because defensively he’s probably are most stable D-man. When he keeps it simple he’s real good.

      • Captain Nitpicker

Gryba gets a lot of crap thrown at him in this blog but
he is the Ottawa D-Man with the best plus/minus

He must be doing “something” right.

  • Gordon Ramsli

Really hoping for a Toronto loss tonight hopefully Buffalo can step up and steal a game! We win tomorrow in Columbus and were 1 point behind the leafs things get interesting then

  • jasonontheoldsenschirp

Kind of out of place, but David Rundblad has yet to make the impact in the league many thought he would let alone make consistent appearances in Phoenix since the trade.

And Kyle Turris is a stud.

    • Mat

Murray is a genius. It may be too early to tell in some cases but we’ve had the upper hand on most of the trades Murray has done. Ryan, Turris, Methot, Anderson, and you could even add Lehner in there. Conacher is the only clear loss IMO but there’s still time..

      • xN1Cx

Agreed but I have to admit I think Conacher still has just as good of a shot to be the impact player we all hope he can be. I liked his game last night as well. He skated hard and to the end of every play.
Would love to see this from the entire collective moving forward. Last night was a fun watch.

        • sprucesens

Yes, while long run it would have been amazing to keep bishop and lehner for 10+ years, it would never happen. And Anderson is still in his prime. So it was the move to make. Conacher skates hard every game, and isn’t afraid to go to the dirty areas. Which is crazy since he is our smallest player. If someone like greening skated as hard, we’d be a scary good team. I really like what he brings along side spezza. Hopefully he can start potting a few soon though.

      • Millennium

I wouldn’t call Conacher a clear loss. Sure TB is winning that trade right now, but its too early to label Conacher as a bust.

  • SensChirp

Ryan being called questionable for tomorrow afternoon’s game. Neck and back stiffness.

    • xN1Cx

Damn – let’s hope HOF Shanahan picks up the phone.

      • Millennium

        He won’t, because Bruins

  • SensChirp

Craig Anderson gets the start in goal.

  • karlssens

Ryan is such a beast, if I got hit by that elbow my head would pop off… That needs to be a suspension!

  • Jacques

Lawson stopped 48 of 50 shots last night for the B-Sens win. Ceci looks good in the highlights!

    • Millennium

Yeah Ceci is shaping up to be a beauty. Which might explain why the organization is more willing to bench Weircioch over Cowen/anybody else, because Ceci is gonna be our 2nd pairing offensive Dman in a year or 2, making PW46 less valuable to the team’s future.

      • SensChirp
      • Sensnation

If Ceci could push PW46 to the 3rd pairing next year with Corvo gone it may solve all the D problems next year.

        • MikeS

So were going to expect a young player to be top 4 off the bat next year? when has that not worked out b4?

          • Jacques

It worked for Karlsson didn’t it????

          • MikeS

karlsson was -35 in his first 2 years. Took him 3 years to really hit his stride. Also I was refering to cowen/weircoch expectations this year

          • Sensnation

I’m not expecting it, but he could, his game should translate well to the pros where as Wiercioch has been a long term hope and prayer.

Though if growth happens this year in either of Wiercioch or Gryba, or a potential trade being rumored for a top 4, then there’s no pressure on Ceci. Either way, it’s just more options to find that 4th top 4 player this team needs.

        • Jacques

Ceci will be in the NHL by the second half of this year for sure!

      • Mat

Ceci is leading all rookie Ds. Looking very strong..

  • MikeS

Well im guessing since we havent heard anything by now there will be no suspension, for a hit that was much more illegal then gryba’s last year

  • Sandy

You are not going to believe this one.. but then again maybe you are.
NO HEARING for Seidenberg on his elbow to Ryan’s head. The reason… no intent. No intent? He chicken-winged him.. he knew what he was doing.
So Nov 14th.. Kadri was suspended for a hit to the head of Backstrom. Nov 15.. Seidenberg NOT suspended for a hit to the head of Ryan.
No please tell me what the fuck is the difference between the two? Nothing. Both shots to the head.
And some of you don’t think there is funny business going on in the Office of Player Safety. To me… it really brings into question any integrity they do have.
That is fucking ridiculous… (Sorry for the language.. but I’m angry… very very angry.)

    • MikeS

Has the league officially announced this or is it just speculation? Because I haven’t seen anything official yet. Its nothing official but all I have seen is:

“The NHL Player Safety Department hasn’t scheduled a hearing with Seidenberg, per a league source, and wouldn’t be in a rush given that the Bruins don’t play again until Monday night in Carolina. It isn’t expected, however, that the B’s defenseman will be meeting with Brendan Shanahan about the incident.”
      http://www.csnne.com/boston-bruins/no-nhl-hearing-scheduled-seidenberg

      • Sandy

Saw this link in a post on Hockeybuzz. It’s a Boston reporter..

        http://www.csnne.com/boston-bruins/no-nhl-hearing-scheduled-seidenberg

        • MikeS

LOL, you linked what I had already linked. But ya, he doesnt say for sure, just says probably not

          • Sandy

Sorry.. this computer didn’t show your link… it’s been acting up lately.
This reporter seems sure that he is not getting a hearing…
You would think that if there would be a hearing for the elbow.. we would know by now…

          • MikeS

The length of time we have waited is what makes me think there wont be one, although he also said there is no rush since bruins dont play till monday

          • sprucesens

yeah, i don’t think he purposefully targeted the head, but he definitely knew he was getting his elbow up, and it made contact with the head. You can clearly see him watch ryan then lift his arm as he goes in. Suspendable, but at most 1 game i think. Therefore likely not to happen.

    • RUSH RLZ

You’re amusing when you’re angry! But yeah, if there is no hearing for that shot at least, fucking ridonkulous!

  • Sandy

To Mr. Craig Anderson… sorry I didn’t have faith in you to get the job done. You were good last night.

The “Detroit game” — team did come to play in the 2nd and 3rd.. Great going guys.

Will this finally be the catalyst to get this team rolling.

Now please tell me they will bring up someone to replace Ryan for tomorrow night… Condra may come back into the lineup.. but they need a scoring winger for the 2nd line. Cue Hoffman…

Congrats to Stephane DaCosta for setting a B-Sens record with 5 pts in the game.. Also named first star of the week in the AHL for post 2 goals and 7 assists in 3 games. Too bad that can’t translate into the NHL..
    http://www.ottawasun.com/2013/11/15/stephane-dacosta-sets-new-b-sens-record-with-5-point-night

    • timwrx

This article is wrong. He tied a record. 3 others have had five point games in Binghamton. Spezza, Bonchenski, and Hamel was the last to do it on 2006 I believe.

      • Sandy

Thanks Timwrx — I guess I should not believe everything the Ottawa Sun prints…
Nice to see the B-Sens doing so well this season… Please give us more updates…

        • timwrx

Looking for 6 in a row tonight! Lawson was incredible last night

          • Jacques

48 Stops, he has been stellar in bingo! but most people on this site don’t think that he could do the job in the NHL. I think Lawson would be a pretty good back-up in the NHL. Don’t forget Tim Thomas took the long way to get to the show!

  • NickofTime

Always nice to see, after all the crap I’ve been reading about Greening not scoring, the coach has come out & said how well he is playing being physical & hitting guys. Also like the way Grant has been playing, I don’t miss Condra at all. Now BM/PM need to bring up Stone to replace Conacher & either Hoffman, Robinson or DD to replace Kassian until he is needed & my team will be set. I like a bigger, tougher team.

    Michalek – Spezza – Zibanejad
    MacArthur – Turris – Ryan
    Greening – Z. Smith – Neil
    Robinson – Grant – Stone / Kassian

    • Jacques

I agree about not missing Condra? I like Grant taking faceoffs, he’s more physical than Condra and might be a better penalty killer to boot.

  • Jacques

Anybody have a. Stream for the Bingo-Rochester game?

  • Brad Bernatchez

Loved the “Bobby” chant at 6:00 in the 3rd!

  • Jacques

    Hoffman pots another.

  • Jacques

Be nice to have Hoffman and DaCosta come up together? They have tons of chemistry going. Hoffman-Dacosta-Zibby there’s your third line. Still think a trade is about to come down though.

  • Mexican Baby Jesus

Detroit has now lost 5 OT games in a row. Thats gotta be some kind of record. Three in a row in shootout too (first two were just OT)

  • MikeS

Sens win tomorrow and they are in the wildcard spot, on the upswing with an easier schedule ahead. Lets hope they can continue to breakout well :)

    • Sensturion

According to my TSN app, Ottawa is in a wildcard position. NHL says differently, though.

      • MikeS

tsn.ca/nhl/standings says they are 2 pts out as well, but they have 2 games in hand

  • timwrx

6 in row baby! Wacey Hamilton 3 assists! Obviously he should be called up and play with Spezza!

    • Captain Nitpicker

      Official Stars of Game were

      1. BNG – 27 Mike Hoffman

      2. BNG – 24 Stephane Da Costa

      3. BNG – 10 Buddy Robinson

    • Jacques

DaCosta doesn’t look like the same guy, he looks Super confident out there. DaCosta and Hoffman are flying. Prince shows great speed on breakaway goal, great hands. Buddy Robinson scores two nice goals and shows lots of finish.

    • Jacques

No , but there are a few guys down there that could replace some of the Sens questionable players for sure.

      • timwrx

        A tad bit sarcastic… :)

  • Senut

just before the Isles game I called for a Sens 8 game streak thinkin Phillie was a no brainer and Boston would halt the streak well I ficked up a little but with the Boston win
I am no longer lookin for a streak but domination in our division for at least a month
