Bruins Embarrass Senators- Highlights

  • CUP 2014-15

Tough loss, Great first, bad second but being down 1-0 going to the third didn’t look too bad seeing how they played in the first. Much like the season has been, it was a matter of which team came down the tunnel to start the third, Wrong team and man when they fall apart, They really fall apart. Lots of questions again about ice time but nothing a win can’t help tonight as long as Bobby gets some PP time with Turris and CMac in place of the grind line. Let’s see a better game tonight for 60. GO SENS GO

I agree, I thought after the first we would squeak out a win. Boston hit a few cross bars, I figured it would be one of those nights that we would score and they wouldn’t ( seen this happen to us many times). Not sure why Mac reduced Bobby’s ice time, I think it may be time to admit that this season is a wash and trade Spezza. Look what the Seguin trade got Boston! I find it disappointing to watch them after what they did last year.

      • CUP 2014-15

Not easy to watch that’s for sure. I don’t know how coaches loose teams but I am starting to wonder if that is the case here. To have the Turris line putting up third line minutes is totally confusing. How can any forwards on this team be playing more then our top +- and top point producers little on having 6, SIX forwards with more TOI.

        • FistsofNeil25

It’s certainly disturbing lol the MacArthur-Turris-Ryan line has been unbelievable this season when they’ve played together. They drive the offence, they seem to always have offensive zone possession while on the ice, they’re strong on the puck, and MacArthur and Turris are probably our two most defensively responsible forwards on the team.

They should be getting first line minutes. No other forward should be getting more ice time than these guys. They were guilty of over passing and being a little too fancy last night. Maybe that’s what rubbed Maclean the wrong way, but we’ve had to question their lack of ice-time way too often this season.

          • CUP 2014-15

I don’t understand it, and the PP with that line sitting on the bench is nothing short of insanity. Is Mac over coaching? He has to put some fun back in the game for these lads. It seems like every response he has is one of anger and demotion. Give the boys some positive feed back. I know it has to be tough to find positives but that’s coaching. There comes a time that when your always told your a screw up that your going to believe it and become it.

        • mkjr

It boggles my mind! Maybe Mac has lost the room….or maybe they just aren’t that good. I hate to say it but I think it’s the latter, I think we should start looking for a new GM. I know it’s not all Murrays fault but….too bad we let Ray Shero and Charelli walk. I’m not a hater but it’s just so frustrating to watch! I also the think the Dave Cameron experiment can officially end!

I don’t know why we continue to come out flat after intermissions or at the start of games. Yesterday we were flying for the entire first period but came out flat in the 2nd and 3rd. Is it a lack of coaching at this point? A lack of leadership?

What is Bryan Murray going to have to do to right the ship? He can’t fire the coaching staff. He’s fired Paddock, Hartsburg, Clouston… no way will Melnyk allow him to fire another head coach, especially one that just signed a new 3 year contract. I personally wouldn’t want to see Maclean fired. I just want an explanation for some of these line up decisions. I’d like to know what he sees in Greening-Smith-Neil to justify giving them the ice-time they receive. I think they’re one of the worst lines in hockey.

That brings me to the leaders of this team. How many of you guys are confident that Spezza, Phillips, and Neil are capable of leading this group? I’m starting to have my doubts. I don’t think we should trade Spezza. Hopefully he’s able to turn his season around and elevate his game the same way Alfie did when he was given the C. Is Phillips still among the top 6 defenceman on this team? I never thought there would be a time that we’d have to consider letting the Big Rig go. I thought he would retire a Senator but now I’m not so sure anymore. I don’t think he makes this team any better than Borowiecki would at this point.

One thing is for sure. Murray has his hands full with some major decisions to make if the team doesn’t get itself out of this funk.

    • CUP 2014-15

      Well said

    • mkjr

I don’t think Spezza can lead…I believe Methot should have got the “C” even though he hasn’t been here long. If Spezza wanted to whine …let him…it’s suppose to be what’s best for the team. On the Neil and Phillips thing, Neil plays his heart out every night and Phillips isn’t a top 4 D anymore (I’m a huge fan BTW). Borocop should have been kept up and Weichoch (sp?) kept in Bingo.

  • Andrews theory

It’s not unusual for a captain to struggle in his first season, look no further than Giroux. That’s the main reason why I was opposed to giving Karlsson the C

With that said, the leadership on this team is the weakest in the NHL currently. To me, your lettered players need to be impact players on the ice and off the ice. How is Spezza supposed to call someone out when he’s arguably the most underperforming player on the team

    • CUP 2014-15

I agree to a point but I remember a damn good captain on this team back in the 90′s named Randy Cunnyworth and he led by example of hard nose play and giving it his all every shift. That helped this team overachieve. I would love for us to have a captain that plays 20 min. a game and plays his ass off but anyone who thought that Spezz was going to become that guy was way off base. You are also bang on for first year captains and I hope Jason can turn this around but he just doesn’t look right.

      • mkjr

        Loved Cunnyworth!

  • Andrews theory

I’m shocked Murray hasn’t sat down with Maclean to explain what the organization had to give up in order to acquire Ryan. Playing Greening more than him accomplishes three things

    -were less likely to score
    -were less likely to win
-he’s less likely to sign an extension

Maybe they have some bizarre theory that the can deflate his stats enough to take below fair market value. At this pace we’ll have no Ryan, no Silfverberg, no Noesen and no lottery pick. GENIUS

  • whammer44

IMO MacLean is over coaching at this point. Put your BEST players on the ice. We all know who they are and their names aren’t Smith Greening and Neil as they should be the 4th line. More than anything they need to find another Dman to eat up some minutes. Cowen should be in Bingo. Not sure about Del Zotto but Murray has to do something as past Methot and Karl no one can be trusted to play big minutes…and Karl is now trying to do too much. Ok enough venting for now!

  • SenaTHOR

Problem is 3 of the best players are – 46. End of story!

    • CUP 2014-15

      True, but why
