Nice play by Turris!
SC – In your Twitter post you had mentioned the Sens are in a tough spot if Spezza were to return. However, I think you are putting MacArthur in an even tougher spot being on two lines!!
Can’t get anything by the Twitter world. Still think of Stone as 16 sometimes. Should have been
HA HA!! I don’t even use Twitter!! If if weren’t for the side bar showing your ‘tweets’ I wouldn’t have noticed!!
And to your lines… I actually think those could work!!!
What about your D? Who would you like to see… Corvo or?
I think I’d like to see Gryba back in there, personally. With Ceci playing well and Wiercioch looking a little better, Corvo is a tad redundant.
RE: OV vs Neiler
I really hate when a non-play such as the supposed cheap shot by Neiler on OV gets the attention it does when a ‘star’ player whines.
For OV to say outright it was a headshot and secondly to verbally abuse the officials publicly isn’t right for the game of hockey.
1) If there was any sort of infraction, it would have been called.
2) OV says he was ready for a shoulder-to-shoulder hit. IF Neiler would have hit him full stride, shoulder-to-shoulder, he wouldn’t be around to whine.
3) Cannot wait for the next Caps vs Sens game!
Lucky for Neil that OV was able to avoid the hit, otherwise I think we would be looking at a Neil suspension for a high hit.
Nice win, thx to Caps for going with Grubauer. Caps still have the same problems, weak D, and if Ovie doesnt produce they go nowhere. Imagine the pressure Ovie has every game…Insane.
Anyways we need to keep winning and stay ahead of the pack for 8th!
Not sure they were trying to help, as, he has the best stats of their three goalies
So as far as Spezza’s concerned;
It’s my gut feeling that this is Mac’s way of benching guys without the humiliation. I think it’s the same thing he did to Methot a week or so ago.
If you’re Spezza watching the game from above, how do you not see what’s going on here? Yes, the team does play differently without him. When he returns, does he change his style of play?
In my opinion he’s just skating too slowly with the puck and holding on to it too long in the NZ. Seems to me the team is at its best when it’s quickly rushing down the ice making quick passes. If Spezza can start doing this, the team will be fine. His creativity will still be there, but he needs to embrace the high-speed game.
Should he be traded? I’m not sure now’s the right time. I’ve always been a huge fan, and maybe the off season is the right time, but I think we’d be kicking ourselves for making a quick, poor decision.
Should he be traded? I guess that depends partly on what we can get back for him. It also depends if Z-bad is ready to replace him.
After two games the top two lines are playing well and scoring. Z-bad and Conacher looked good on their passing play that gave Zibby an open net. The team played a better defensive game too. Coincidence?
I’m not sure if we should trade Spezza…not a big fan of his lately!! but I’d like to see what he could do with Stone. As for Conacher, I like the style he plays…just wish he could score more..but he is feisty.
I said hello from you on the O. Sun this morning.
Murray gets paid the big bucks to decide who gets traded. It wasn’t the end of the world when Fisher was moved. It won’t be the end of the world if Spezza does too.
Ya , I read the Sun and saw your hello from me, thanks. I see what you’re saying about the “Fisher” trade, and agree with you but I’d still like to see what Spezza can do with Stone. IF…that doesn’t work , then maybe BM entertains the idea of letting Spezza go and get BR locked up long term.
They play better defensively simply cause there’s waaaayyyy less turnovers In neutral zone and zone entry… Those are spezza’s speciality
When I see Spezza carrying the puck through the neutral zone all I can say is, Yikes!!!
This strange idea around Mac’s way of benching without the humiliation has occurred to me too…
Nice to see Conacher doing so well lately, something like 6 points in 8 games IIRC. He played well enough last year to at least make it look like he was an NHL’er.. his play prior to this streak wasn’t overly impressive, hopefully this will give him the confidence to be a solid 3rd liner. He appears to have some of the tools.
Couldn’t help but notice this guy celebrating the empty-netter during the highlights…
Wearing his Mac jersey I hope…
I can’t tell whether or not you’re being sarcastic.
Notice what? I don’t get it either
Leafs fan celebrating a Senators goal (to the right of the hand, circled in red)
forgive me, but in which picture?
Photo not loading?
Okay, it’s loaded now – not sure if I had to close the website and re-open or what.
I’m a little under the weather so i could be slow, but your posts says “Couldn’t help but notice this during the highlights…” not being sarcastic, what did you notice
thanks for the clarification lmao
At least the poorly dressed idiot is cheering for the right team. These fools are like cockroaches, they are everywhere and need to be exterminated.
Awesome game by the sens nice way to close out the year with 2 wins in a row hopefully they can start the new year off with the way they completed the last. It’s not how you start but how you finish.
I see it’s been mentioned a couple times so ill add to the banter. What if the senators did trade Spezza. This is only a what if, but what if the Sens did actually trade Spezza. Sure he is an elite centre, but Turris and Zibenajad are both coming into a nice form, then you have pageau, smith, grant, hamilton. That’s 6 centres. If you traded Spezza you could possibly pick up another offensive centre (not to his calibre) but an O centre at least for depth, you could certainly get back your missing first rounder from this year and maybe even get another piece.
Now don’t think I think this is an absolute must but what if they did trade him? Sure he’s captain but maybe he’s like Joe Thornton or any other players that didn’t fit into the structure of a team. Sometimes you just have to move on. This team has shown over and over that they can win without him. And yes teams would be lining up to trade for him, well great, then you could get a good return for him.
Jason Spezza can and is an elite player in this league. But perhaps he’s not as elite on this team due to the higher tempo game they play.
Personally I could accept moving forward with the likes of Turris Zibenajad, Pageau, Smith and the centres we have in the minors. We certainly have enough D to add to a Spezza package to pickup a nice return.
I am a big supporter of Spezza and have always been, but seeing the Jekyl and Hyde personalities this team can be, maybe just maybe he doesn’t have the character to be captain and the pressure is too much. I’m no pro, I’m not a coach or a gm this is simply MHO
7 Year for Phagoof!? Poor Toronto… first Rob Ford, now this?
haha yeah… I would love to call that a bad deal but if they didn’t sign him, some other team would have given him more than that this summer. I’d rather the Leafs be stuck with that clown than anyone else.
