Game Day- The Battle of Ontario

With a win in the season opener under their belts, the Ottawa Senators are right back at it against their provincial rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Leafs are off to a strong start this year, posting wins over Montreal and Philadelphia in their first couple outings.  The Sens look to hand them their first loss of the season tonight at the ACC.

While there was some definitely some rust, the Senators are obviously thrilled to come away with a win in their season opener.

Ottawa had a ton of chances but just could not find a way to beat Ryan Miller through the first 58 minutes.  But with time running out, Erik Karlsson took a perfect cross ice feed from Clarke MacArthur and beat Miller through the legs, giving the Sens a 1-0 lead they would not relinquish. On a night where the Sens were trying to shake off some early season rust, Craig Anderson was perfect.  He made several huge stops, keeping the Sabres off the board and locking up a huge two points in the season opener.

Paul MacLean will make a couple changes to his line up heading into tonight’s game vs. the Leafs.  Eric Gryba struggled and as a result finds his way into the press box.  That means Joe Corvo draws in for Ottawa.  And with all the “tough guys” dressing for the Leafs, MacLean will insert his enforcer as Matt Kassian takes Stephane Da Costa’s spot.

Just an optional skate for the Sens this morning but here is how they are expected to line up.

Craig Anderson gets the start in the Ottawa goal.  Puck drop is scheduled for just after 7:00 PM with the game available on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada.
