Training Camp Cuts Loom

As soon as this Sunday and possibly earlier, we'll have a pretty good idea how Paul MacLean envisions his line up when the regular season opens next month.

The Coach plans to seperate the camp into two groups with the main group made up of about 26 or 27 players. That means opening night line up and two or three roster hopefuls. The rest of the guys in camp will join Binghamton Senators bench boss Luke Richardson.

In what may end up being a bit of a sneak preview, the Sens have a 25 man roster currently listed on their official website.

It includes a couple interesting names in Mike Hoffman and first round draft pick Curtis Lazar. The team has spoken pretty highly of Lazar and are hoping to get him into a couple exhibition games. Really don't think he's still on the roster when the season starts but it's a great chance for him to stick with main group for the rest of camp.

It will be interesting to see if this is the group MacLean ends up going with this weekend.

  • The Senators have picked their new goal song for this season and it's a tune called Righteous Smoke by Monster Truck.  While I'll admit not being crazy about it on first listen, it's starting to grow on me.  Need to make sure it comes through a little clearer in the building though as it seemed to sound a little muffled on Thursday night.
  • My web design guy and I have been working away on getting a new version of the site to launch in time for the start of the regular season. Really excited by some of the initial mock ups and think this switch will be a significant upgrade for readers.  As always, if you have suggestions, feel free to share them in the comment section below.
