Roger’s House Telethon Tonight

SensChirp March 15, 2011 0

Tonight is a special night at SBP as the club hosts their annual Roger’s House Telethon beginning at 6:30 PM on Rogers Sportsnet.

This is an extremely worthwhile cause and one that I strongly encourage you all to help out with in any way that you can.

Roger’s House is an eight bed palliative care unit that was created through a partnership between the Ottawa Senators Foundation, CHEO and the Ontario Ministries of Health and Children and Youth Services Since opening in 2006, Roger’s House has had more than 1200 admissions and provided more than 8000 days of care.

You can text “SENS” to 45678 for a $5 donation or “SENATORS” to 45678 to make a $10 donation.

Donations will also be accepted online at sensfoundation.com. For more information about Roger’s House, click here.

Meanwhile, on the ice, the Sens return home after a lengthy road trip and find a familiar face waiting for them at Scotiabank Place. Alex Kovalev, armed with one point in his last eight games, returns to Ottawa tonight for the first time since a deal that shipped him to Pittsburgh last month.

It’s hard to say what type of reception Kovalev should expect tonight. While I think it’s safe to assume it will be generally unfavourable, I think most fans will be fairly indifferent to his return.

While Kovalev had mostly good things to say after being dealt for a conditional 7th round pick, he was a player that always left fans wanting more. He scored 32 goals in his two and a half seasons with the Sens but was the same enigma he has been for most of his career.

Couple line up changes for the Sens. Derek Smith and Ryan Potulny were demoted yesterday and this morning the club recalled Andre Benoit and Jim O’Brien to to fill the void.

Here is how the forwards are expected to line up (Updated lines from Scott MacArthur of the Team1200.

  • Greening-Spezza-Butler
  • Foligno-Shannon-Condra
  • Smith-Winchester-Neil
  • Svatos-O’Brien-Lessard

Craig Anderson gets the start in goal.
