Game Day- Sens Continue Western Swing

The Senators have now won two straight road games over the Leafs and Flames and will look to continue their winning ways against the surprising Edmonton Oilers.

Ottawa is coming off a text book road win in Calgary on Tuesday night.  Daniel Alfredsson opened the scoring and Bobby Butler scored the other two as the Sens topped the Flames by a 3-1 score.

Ottawa will be looking for more of the same against high-flying Oilers.

While Edmonton has cooled off as of late, they have to be considered the leagues most surprising team in the first quarter of the season.  They come in with a 9-6-2 record but have dropped their last three contests.

The Oilers have been getting phenomenal goaltending from Nikolai Khabibulin and have allowed just 2.12 goals against per game.  Up front, the Oilers have been buoyed by a blistering start from a rejuvenated Ryan Smyth.  He’s posted an impressive ten goals and 17 points through 17 games.

Expect him to be parked in front of Craig Anderson all night long.

Ottawa won't make any changes to the line up that won in Calgary on Tuesday although I wouldn't be surprised to see Bobby Butler creep his way up the depth chart if the Sens struggle offensively.   David Rundblad is a healthy scratch.

Another late start tonight as puck drop is scheduled for just after 9:30 PM.  The game is available on SportsnetSens and TVA or on the radio at Team1200.  Keep an eye on the comment section for a stream closer to game time.

Because we have a late start today and I fear we may have said all there is to say on Filatov, let me see if I can steer the game day discussion a little bit.  In addition to the usual game day chatter, I thought we could do a little bit of Twentieth Anniversary Reflection.

Take your best shot at one or all of the questions below!

In the 20 year history of the Ottawa Senators…

  • Most underrated Senator of all-time?
  • Most overrated?
  • Most heart?
  • Toughest?
  • Most entertaining?
  • All-time favourite Senator?
  • Most painful Sens memory?
  • Best Senators memory?
